Hey Gaffer how's that special room you booked ? Hope it's nice.

It's not so much that it was a special room that I booked, just a special rate for Valentine's day.

Other than that the hotel if fine for what we need it for.

Thank you all for yur kind words, well wishes and support. I have started my journey and it just seems all so surreal right now. Talk to ya guys later.

Hey Gang,

Just checkin in after my surgery. Things are going pretty well, and I am up a walking around, Gas pain has not been too bad, mostly like a muscle ache. Dr. C also had to fix a hernia while he was in there so he said that will contribute to the pain. 3 of the 4 patients he did yesterday had to have heria repairs

Becca, I did not get a chance to see you at the clinic yesterday, you were in recovery while i was in being preped.

Thanks for the support guys.

Yes Andrew, I suspected I was in lala land while you were there. Glad to hear you're doing well.

I am pretty sure you were in lala land. I remember hearing the nurse telling you that you had to brethe.

I gotta say that I found all the staff there to be really good, and the Dr. who did the anestesia was excellent.

Andrew congrats on the successful surgery! You and Becca both sound like you are doing fine. Good to hear. :)

I am almost 6 days out and I am feeling really well. Probably could have gone back to work but hey the time is covered so oh well. :girl_hug: So happy about the idea of taking off the strips this weekend. They are a little itchy. My skin is really sensitive so the strips leave itchy red marks. Yuck! Other than that just some minor pains here and there when I move in certain ways but that's about it.

Again Becca and Andrew congrats. Hope you are both heal up fast and well. :girl_hug:

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
