2 Month Surgiversary Today! Protein Menus Needed

Recommended Posts

It's my two month surgiversary today. I am so thrilled with my results so far (45 lbs including 3 weeks of pre-op dieting). I am still struggling to get my required 60 grams of Protein in without using shakes or bars. Would you mind sharing a typical daily menu that meets your protein goals? I have absolutely no regrets over this surgery and am only sad that I waited so long to have it.

I do 6 mini meals a day.

Some stand bys for me are

hot choc /decaf (15g)

2 light mozzarella string cheese (12g)

Chobani Lemon Greek Yogurt (15g)

Boars Head Ever-roast deli chicken 2 oz (13g)

Al Fresco chicken sausage (14g).

Morningstar Spicy Black Bean Burger (11g)

1 pouch tuna/1/4 c 1% cottage cheese (23g)

Gortons Simply Bake Tilapia (20g)

Unjury Protein Powder 1 scoop/8 oz skim milk (29g) and sometimes I add 2 T of PB2 which brings it to 34g (I only have a shake once or maybe twice a week now)

I still often have a Quest bar each day for one of my meals since my work schedule is crazy.

Each one of these standbys is 1 mini meal for me.

I don't have room for anything after eating it.

I don't eat them all on the same day but keep my cals under 900 for the day. I shoot for 90g a day.

I find that the 5 - 6 small meals a day is the best way to go to get the Protein in.

I can't remember the hot chocolate that I had but I believe I looked it up on like netrition or lucky Vitamin or bariatric something (can't remember the name) but any of the good online Vitamin shoppes should have it - search Protein hot chocolate. It was really tasty, just can't remember specifically which brand it was.

One thing I do is add a scoop of Syntrax chocolate Protein Powder to my coffee each morning and I get like a mocha latte type of thing out of it. I get my coffee which I love but don't have to add Creamer or sweetner because the protein powder does it. I was wondering if adding the protein powder to Water (not hotter than 140 degrees) would give me the "hot chocolate" effect but since I like the coffee and it's only one cup a day I just do it that way.

For other protein sources I also like Jerky hut beef Jerky. High in protein, one ounce fills me as a snack and it is real "meaty" not stringy or fatty. I eat cold cuts and will make chicken breast with some Italian seasoning, salt and pepper and bake and keep in the fridge for a snack as well.

I use the Proti-diet hot chocolate from Bariatric Choice. It is DELICIOUS!! I have one every night. It satisfies my sweet tooth and for some reason Hot drinks fill me up more. 90 calories / 15 grams of protein!!!

It's also the perfect drink for cool fall and cold winter nights/mornings!

Here is a link: https://www.bariatricchoice.com/rewardsref/index/refer/id/105733

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
