Any Younger Bansters Here?

Recommended Posts

Curtis: Wow congrats on your loss! I was banded May 31st and I am down around 42lbs. My local support group is also full of mostly 40 and 50 year olds, but I go anyway. I figure that they have some insight and experience about weightloss in general that can surely help me. Hey, I'll take all the help I can get. Good Luck All!

I defintly needs some support right now. I have been on a plateau for about 6 weeks now. I have started walking 30 min a day and still nothing. I have slacked off on Water, which I need to start getting my water in again. I am going for a fill tomorrow so I hope that does the trick.

Not To Say That Anyone Here Is Old But I Am 21 And I Dont Find That Many People Here My Age - Does This Say That I Am Giving Up To Early? Anyone Here In The 20's Or Younger?

Being Banded On Feb. 7th 2007

I'm 19, soon to be 20 in january! Its gets frustrating sometimes to hear "oh, you're to young to get this done" and blah blah, but I've struggled with my weight at a very young age.So most likely for my 20th bday, my present to myself is to get the surgery. Its great to know there are young people, some younger than myself here, wanting to get the band done. All of your stories are inspringing to me!Well good luck to everyone! And feel free to messege me or IM online at anytime.Thanks!-jess

For all of you 20 somethings out there going to school and work, are your friends and coworkers noticing your weightloss? Do they ask you how you are losing? Do they know that you were banded? and, what was their reaction?

I haven't told anyone other than my parents and couple of others. My grandmother doesn't even know. Anyways, I am a college student and none of my friends have even noticed. Well, at least they haven't said anything. One girl asked me if I had lost some weight because she could tell I had. No one questions my eating habits or my not drinking with food. I am actually pretty happy with this, because I feel somewhat normal. Although, I am working so damn hard I would like some recognition for the good work.

Just wondering what other peoples experiences were.

I haven't read the whole thread, but probably will, now. Just responding real quick. I'm 27 and I don't see it as giving up. I see it as seizing the moment NOW instead of waiting until I'm in my 40s and regret the time I wasted (I'm not saying that anybody that waited until that age to do this wasted anything - it would be wasted time in MY life) because of everything I missed out on. I stand outside my own life a lot and hold back because of my weight. I want to claim back my life NOW and in mental preparation, I have already begun doing that. I know it's a psychological change that has to happen now rather than after the weight loss - but I'm so ready for the lap band that for some reason my view on life is already shifting.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
