Oct 1st is The first day of the rest if my life!

Recommended Posts

I have been on this site for well over a year. I have been through a lot in that year, as I am sure we all have been. When I started here our insurance wouldn't pay for any WLS. So my only option was to go to MX. I had planned to have it Jan 17 2013 with Dr. Lopez in PV. I met 2 great ladies here during that time who were having surgery same place and same time and another who was having surgery with DR. Alvarez at the same time. We have stayed in touch and I call those ladies friends. They have done awesome!!! But I had to cancel due to some family issues. My marriage was on the rocks, mom was having surgery, a lot of crap!!! I went into a deep depression at this time cause I felt like I shoulda forgot everyone else's crap and took care of me.

Low and behold insurance began paying for WLS right after that and I began hoop jumping as of April. I finished up SEpt 13th they submitted my file that day to insurance did all my pre op testing and we scheduled surgery that day for October 1st. I have been having a bout of negativity since. Thinking there would be no way I would get the approval back by then. I will probably get denied for some obscure reason. Something will happen.

Well God saw fit to take care of it for me and I got My APRROVAL today!!!!! Yay!!!! Me!!!!

I have one week and y'all better move in over on that losers bench!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
