That's what it's come to when trying to get my liquid Protein in. I now use the New whey Protein Shots. Some 40 grams of Protein for 4oz of liquid. I only do a quarter at a time as our bodies can only process so much protein at once, but it's a good/simple way to get in a decent amount of protein, and it usually pushes me over 100 grams of protein a day when counting the food ingested.

I just can't do it anymore. Choking down chalky, slimy, nasty tasting Protein drinks. I think I just need to take a break from the shakes. Maybe introduce them again in a month or so...or whenever it is that I can look at the container and not gag.

this is EXACTLY what I did. I'd also rinse my mouth after sipping. Just like taking yucky penicillin when you're a kid!!! It got the job done, and made me determined to get all my protein with food ASAP!!!!

Be careful with the new whey shots, despite their name, they're not a high quality Protein and not really recommended for bariatric patients because they're mostly collegen. Yes Whey! is a better choice if you want to do the Protein Shots.< /p>

BariWise makes an Orangeade that was good, and easy for me to drink. It was a good diversion from the thicker shakes. Also I'm a big fan of the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup. Good luck!

I just sucked it up and learned how to like grape Isopure. One bottle a day, one sip at a time and BAM! 40 grams of high quality Protein. Made getting the rest much easier.

It's worth the sacrifice. You won't have to do it for long.

Good luck!

Isopure is the best Protein you can take in. It will help with your healing and its just not that bad!

Great luck to you! The first couple weeks are not what I would say fun, but it gets so much better! And, oh my, life is great after about a month!

Thank you! I'm going to give that a try I think. I can not stand powder but if I can sip small amounts of something the consistency as Water I may fair well. Where do you purchase yours?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
