Was anyone else banded on this day? I guess I wanted to see how everyone else was doing that was banded at tghe same time. I am not doing very good at all. I have no restriction at all, except for bread, and I'm eating tons of food. I cant believe I have done this to myself. My husband is working like a crazy person to pay for this surgery and I cant even stop eating. I havent exercised since way before my surgery. I have become a total couch potatoe.

There are no support groups in my area, so 2 weeks ago I started going to weight watchers strictly for the support. So far I have weighed in twice and gained both times. Do you know how humiliating that is!!!!! To have WLS and gain!!!!!

I have got to get a handle on this. Anyone got any sample menu ideas. I have no idea of how much to eat or what to eat. I know Sonic chili cheese burritos and coke floats are not on the menu. Any suggestions?????

I feel so hopeless......I dont go for another fill until Feb 14. I have started condeming myself about that too....what if I gain...whats the doc gonna say.....what if my husband finds out Im a fraud for overeating....hes so suppportive but thats because he doesnt know the real me when it comes to my food addiction. Lord help.......ha ha ha

Hi White! I wasn't banded on Oct 12, but I was banded on Oct 26 so we're pretty close. I'm sorry to hear about your frustrations with being hungry...can you get another fill earlier? I also have a 4 cc band and I am filled to 2.1 cc and I still haven't found the perfect restriction yet. Sometimes it takes a few fills to hit your sweet spot.

As far as menus...try to eat your Protein first, veggies second and then carbs if you have room. Of course I'm not perfect with eating either...it takes a lot of work and there have been a couple of weeks where I have gained. I live alone so I usually don't cook big meals, but I eat a lot of chilli, tuna, egg salad, hamburger, and shredded chicken for Protein. I also eat a lot of salad with chicken, hard boiled eggs, bacon. There is also a food thread with lots of suggestions. I find I have to make an effort to prepare my food a little bit more, but that way I make better choices.

There is also a thread for people who were banded in October and it's great to be able to talk to others who are going through similar issues. Here's the link http://www.lapbandtalk.com/october-bandsters-t23737p95.html

I hope this helps!! Good luck.

You need another fill. 0.8 ccs in a 4 cc band is nothing. Although a very small fill can be enough for some people, what matters is whether or not it's enough for YOU! Why is your doctor doing such small amounts? Why are you having to wait 2 months between fills?

Usually, you know if a fill is working within about 2 weeks...so if you still don't feel restriction, make another appt. immediately...you can always cancel it if the restriction changes. If it's the doctor's "rules" that he only fills small, small amounts and makes you wait 2 months, then find another doctor or have a serious talk with yours. It sounds like you were self-pay...so you PAID for the band, and yet it's not really working until you have a decent level of restriction.

Try not to be so hard on yourself. Really...without adequate fills, your band is NOT working. Being down on yourself just makes it worse...not only because you want to eat more, but it contributes to wanting to be a couch potato (sitting around and feeling hopeless).

Now, the one thing that you CAN do to start progressing is to get your butt OFF the couch and go for a walk. :) You don't have to have a "formal" exercise routine...just try to start moving more. You'll feel better for it!

Cindy

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
