March 2007 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I know I'm getting closer and closer everyday. Tomorrow will be my 7th day on the Optifast 14 Day liquid Diet! Getting Banded 3/27/07 I thought as each day goes by it may get a little easier. But the past two days have been very, very tuff! I haven't gone off course, but this is a Monster Hurdle. Sometimes it's hunger pain, and others I just want to chew and swallow something. I mean I've been eating some s/f Jello and Popsicles, chicken broth, but just a temporary fix. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not going to cave in, but I'm just looking for some imput?

Thanks Rocko~~:help:

Rockn4u,

Is Optifast like slimfast? Maybe you could try pouring it into an ice cube tray an eating it? That mayb help. I dont have many ideas to help, but I just wanted to reach out to you since I feel so bad. I am lucky and don't have to go on the pre-op diet, but the stress is getting to me. Mine is on the 30th I just want it to come already.

Well, I too had the same problem, and my Nutritionist told me to add a 1/2 chick breast or 3 -4 ounces of Protein to keep me from the starvation feeling.

Hang in there Rocko.. Luckily, I was really slammed at work during my preop diet.

Tammy, how you doin? Pain and nauseau are pretty much gone. Feeling a little weak though this afternoon. GOing to try and work all day tomorrow. This is the first time I've sat in the house for 3 days since i was a fat kid on summer vacation  . Watched Al Gore's documentary on Global Warming and did my taxes...

Pam, are you still on? How was your vacation? I really sort of, no not sort of, I cheated to day real good. I ate one of those Protein Bars, Then I ate mashed potatoes and gravy and green Beans tonight. I just finish a whole fudgesicle and a little tub of SF Jello. I didn't feel what I could call restricted and I must have eaten about a cup or more of the potatoes etc.

miss Gail;

Yes I am back...

I am sooooo glad to be home, I am really a home body.

I totally overate when I was gone.

So when you overate or even ate the sequestered foods didyou experience any pain? I think you would have said so if you did.

Then no harm done

Gail

Was the Protein Bar from fresh energy? was it good? I am assuming you chewed chewed chewed.

Did you read Chris post? he I think PB'd a couple times from food and he's trying to play it safe. The Dr. told him it was a tight squeeze to put that band on him.

I am not experencing any restriction but eating much much much much much less than normally, not losing as much as I would have liked to. Have you seen the gals over in Feb bandster group? Wow they are just a couple days earlier than me and have lost 20+ pounds since surgery. I will get there I am not discouraged, I just will take the little side detours along the way.

Hey Pam I just love reading your posts and yes this past weekend I don't have as much restriction as in the begining.

I ate a little too much on Sat night becasue of this and it just felt like a rock in my chest. but then it passed.

I get to have my first fill on the 26th of March. My doc wants to do the first one 3 weeks post op now instead of 5. Then I can go every 4 weeks till I hit my go spot.

Glad you are well and had a good trip.

So Glogirl;

I am always afraid to post my real tru 'possible stretching the rules advice" and then you backed me with that chicken breast! Right on! I am afraid one day I will get a really ugly PM criticizing my ideas, but at least I am "real".

So when you feel that rock feeling, you should have chewed alot better or swallowed a smaller bite. That is what I call the swallowed an ice cube feeling, then it goes away after you get up and walk around and flap your arms and take some deep breathes.

So what did you eat? IS it that you ate the wrong food or toooooo much food?

Do you feel restriction? Have you felt the thanksgiving full feeling yet?

I have a HUGE tip for people who are allowed to eat really good food; maybe I should be posting in February.

Go to the frozen vegtable section, and in the little boxes of frozen food, there are steam pouches in boxes, and tonight I ate snap peas with red peppers and potatoes (only two potatoes) OMG perfectly seasoned and it was a snap to fix, slapped it into the micro and it was perfectly prepared, I also ate a few bites of seared ahi tuna.< /p>

This meal was probably one of the first that I think I ate within correct portions (about 1/4-1/2 cup of food). I chewed chewed chewed chewed. But it was like being in a fine restaurant good.

Yes the arm Flapping Helped!!! :clap2:

I just ate too much because I waited too late to eat lunch and I am pretty sure I chewed good but ate too fast. My family really helped me before I got out of hand. I was having the chicken out of a chicken enchilada and some black Beans and melon. It was good but just ate a little too much.

I am like you I think...I am eating way less than normal but not the "lapband' amount. Even my daughter said tonight at dinner. Hey that was at least a cup full....my DH backed my up by saying hey she hasn't had her fill appt yet and she is doing great. I love my family!!!

Pam, it was a Zone Bar. I am going to have to give those to my DH. I didn't even look at the calories! Zoowie! 210. Protein 14g.

I haven't PB'd yet. It felt a little like indigestion. I burped a few times but things went down ok.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
