March 2007 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I am so happy to be getting banded as part of your group. You all sound like a great bunch! So positive and supportive! Which after the banding I'm sure I will be trying to soak up like a sponge. LOL! I have to laugh to keep from crying. I too am a little nervous, but at the same time excited. I started my preop diet on Thursday 2-15. Protien drinks 3 times a day, and 1 high protien low fat meal consisting of a meat and a green vegetable. Not too bad. Funny how the preops differ so much. I am waiting on my letter from insurance to come this week. I have been aproved, but my doc uses 2 different surgery centers. Depending on which center insurance aproves, my surgery will be either March 1st or March 2nd. I will check back in when I get my confirmation. Hasve a great week everyone! Teresa

:welcomeB: Tea Time!!!!! You are in good company because we are all a bundle of nerves. Good Luck to You and Keep us Posted!!!

I am getting a little nervous too!

The only instructions I've gotten so far for pre op is to not gain any weight

I'm PMSing and gained 3lbs, but I know it will come off soon!

I've been having a bit of the last supper syndrome the last few weeks, although I do try hard to not be TOO bad

It is so good to hear that I'm not alone and that everyone is trying so hard. :scared:

During my last meal syndrome attack, I know I have put on a few pounds. Even my sweatpants are feeling a little snug. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! :angry I am getting started today! I don't start full liquids until next Thursday, but starting today I will replace 2 meals with Protein Shakes and have one low carb meal each day. I am also going to start my workout routine again. :Banane43: :boxing:

I may cancel my lunch dates with my friends or if I do go I will be sure to chose something low carb of the menu. Oh, who am I fooling...I think I'd better cancel and just tell them that my Dr. put me on a strict diet this week.

Good Luck Everyone with your pre-op or self-prescribed diets!!!

Tammy..you have hit the nail on the head with enough is enough!! My pants are also snug with a little gain but what my friend said brought me back to reality. I quote...do not let the doctor cancel your surgery because of the weight you have gained!! Yikes, how foolish I have been playing around with this. So in your words Tammy I am also doing 2 drinks a day and one low carb meal until I am back in my right mind. :faint: I will be a success!!

Yippee! My surgery date is March 20. I will be banded at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. I am very nervous but ready to start my new journey.

Should I expect a lot of pain? I know that everyone is different.

My surgery is on a Tuesday and I am hoping to be back in the classroom on Monday. We'll see.

:clap2:

OMG it's next week!!!! It's so soon it almost doesn't seem real! March 2nd at 11am. I paid for part of it today too...ouch. Tomorrow I go for an Upper GI (whatever that is), a nutrition consult, psych eval and a teaching appt at the surgeon's office. I can't eat or drink anything after midnight tonight. I had my wisdom teeth pulled a few days ago and I can't even take my meds after midnight. I feel sorry for the people that have to work with me until 6am. haha  I'm excited though...has anyone else already done their pre op appts?? Maybe you can let me know what to expect? Or what an Upper GI actually is? lol

I had an Upper GI Endoscopy a few years ago. Basically, they stick a small camera on a bendy pole down your throat to check for ulcers and the like. It really wasn't bad because they gave me anesthetic which completely knocked me out. One second I was listening to the doctor telling a story about his son going to New Orleans, and the next thing I knew I woke up as they were wheeling me to a recovery area. There was no sore throat or anything afterwards, and my doctor gave me full-color pictures of my innards (really quite creepy).

I'm on the enough-is-enough bandwagon too - no more last suppers for me - after I couldn't fit into my big jeans on Sat night. I've walked 45min-1 hour for four days in a row, and I started low carb yesterday as a preliminary to my liquid diet starting Monday. I feel better already!!

I did really well yesterday. I stuck to my plan and had a Protein Shake for Breakfast, a South Beach Cereal Bar mid morning, Shrimp Ceasar salad (no croutons and the shrimp was plain) for lunch, and another Protein shake for dinner. I ate more salad than I probably should have. Gotta work on eating proper portions. I also did 40 minutes circuit training at the gym. :)

I weighed in at the hospital last night and gained 2lbs! :P Now I am at an all time high of 279lbs...more than what I weighed 9 months pregnant. :preggers: That makes me even more determined to stick to my plan. I refuse to get to that 280 mark...NO WAY!! :D

:welcome: To our newest March Bandsters!!! I will be adding you to our list!

Happy Dieting today to those who are on a diet plan. IT IS a GOOD THING and we should be happy about it because we are doing something awesome for our bodies! :thumb:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
