I want to be able to:

Wear my wedding ring

Sit in booths without test them first

Having fun shopping for clothes

Not be the "fat sister"

Use the upstairs in my house

Be able to sit on floor and play with my grandkids

Be comfortable in movie and plane seats

Walk in stores and not use those dumb electric carts

Going into my closet and finding things that DO fit

Walk from he parked car instead of people having to drop me off at the door

Surgery in 10 days-excited but kind of scared too

So, last night I went to a hockey game with my brother. I went to sit in the seat and my goodness my lower half is big! As I was squeezing my rear into the seat, someone said did you see that? That was an awesome shot! The guy behind me said "It would've been nice to see it..." and he and his buddies laughed and fist bumped.

Things I won't miss about being fat: people making such nasty comments about me.

I know there will always be mean, negative people....but the fact that people are so open in being nasty to people who are overweight, it's just frustrating.

10 things I won't miss about being fat:

1.) Not being able to ride carnival rides

2.) Not being able to walk on the beach unless I'm in a shirt and shorts to cover my fat

3.) Not being able to fit in restaurant booths too well

4.) Not being able to play football or soccer with my friends because I feel too fat

5.) Having to pull my shirt down constantly because I feel like its stuck in my fat rolls

6.) Having to buy ugly plain clothes that are not what I really want to wear

7.) Having to atand behind people in pictures because I feel too big to be in the front

8.) Having to double check every picture someone has taken of me to make sure they didn't get my 'fat side'

9.) Not being able to run around in the park with my niece

10.) Constantly being frowned upon for being overweight and not able to get the jobs I want because I don't looksl good enough..

There we go! I am only 3 days out, (sleeved on 11/20/13) but I can already feel the change happening! I'm an 18yo boy and I just want to move on with my life!!!

I can't find any cute shoes in my size. I wear a 10.5 wide...wide because of my fat feet.

1. Stuffing those fat feet into size 10 med. because they were just too cute & I can "make it work". Blisters!

2. Afraid to go to my kids' schools for anything because I don't want to embarrass them.

3. Being the fat friend at the party who sits at the table & holds everyone's purses.

4. Being oinked at in Walmart in front of my kids...yes, some guy actually oinked at me! (Jerk)

5. Wearing animal prints from plus size section that make me look exactly like that animal (cow, zebra, etc.)

6. Sweating...all of that very unattractive sweating.

7. Only one comfortable "romantic position" with the hubby. Either butt is too big for this or gut is too big for that. Also, knees hurting & out of breath if attempting to "ride the bull".

8. Being the fat sister & daughter.

9. Not being flirted at (I know I'm married but it just would feel kind of nice to know others find me attractive).

10. Being afraid to go places & travel.

I understand everything you are saying, although i do get flirted with,it's never from the person I want it to be! I'm so over being morbid obeist, I have to start the process all over again, because I was going to do the lap band, but I backed out..so now I'm retrying but the sleeve seems better after doing my research! I go to the seminar Dec 12!

I did not consider lap band because once I make this life style change I didn't want to go back and forth to the doctor I increase and decrease cc. I want to roll out of the ER and begin to manage my weight like I never could in the past. I have lost 60lbs. on my own in the last 2 years and it felt good! Now I want to move forward without my weight holding me back. The sleeve will allow ME the opportunity to do just that. Go luck to you in your journey.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
