I had my surgery around 9am this morning in Mx with the amazing Dr. Alvarez. This has been such a good experience so far. I flew into San Antonio, where I was promptly picked up by Dr. Alvarez's driver Rosie. She was very polite and informative about all the questions I had about Mexico given the fact that I have never been here before. When we got to the dr office we meet Dr.Alvarez. He was so wonderful and down to earth. I volunteered to go first so he met with me in his office and discussed my health. He told me of how he performed the procedure. I was then taken for bloodwork and chest xray. Then put on a bed and hooked to an iv...they gave me something to calm me then I woke up in my room and the surgery was already done. The nurses here dont speak english well but Jesus and Jessica are always around and speak fluent English and Spanish. Jessica is a total sweetheart, I really do like her sweet demeanor. I have had no pain, just random mild discomfort. That may change tomorrow with the introduction of Water and Clear Liquids. I will write more tomorrow and update how I feel.

You are lucky. I wanted them to shoot me when I woke up from surgery! The gas pain was shocking so I'm glad you didn't have to feel that.

Im sorry to hear that Justin. I do consider myself very fortunate now. I hope tomorrow goes as good as today. I only asked for pain meds once today and that was just a couple hours ago. I am having a very hard time sleeping so I figured I would break out the laptop and do some writing. Thanks again

Hey Amber I hope they help you out with some pain meds. Im having some type of insomnia...idk. I got some meds at 1 just to help me relax and sleep but by 230 I was wide awake and walking out in the hall. I wish I could sleep because tomorrow will be stressful tryin to get my fluids in on my brand new tummy. It may cause some gas that im lucky I didnt have right after surgery. Lol Dr. Alvarez told me since I had already had a laproscopic gall bladder removal it would be similar for vsg pain wise and would be fairly easy for me since my other laproscopic surgery went good.

I didn't really have gas pain either, but I did experience difficulty waking up. In fact I am now four days post-op and I can still feel the side effects of the anesthesia. I have dry mouth, nausea, itching, random dizziness, and blurry vision. I hope it clears up pretty soon.

What I don't have is hunger to any extent. I smell food and don't have a desire to eat anything, obviously that may change in time.

I am able to drink two Protein shakes a day, followed by Water throughout the day.

I have been walking, as long as the weather permits.

It is amazing how much better I felt the day after surgery.

Congrats and welcome to the sleeved life. That's great news about your recovery thus far! I'm nearly six weeks out, and I had little to no complications. Be sure to keep walking; I firmly believe that my recovery went well due to all the walking I did!

Thanks Vinnie! I have definitely been walking. Today they start making you walk, but I have been doing it so frequent im actually looking forward to doing it without dragging the iv post. Thanks for the advice. I am so happy to be on the losing side!

Congrats! I had surgery Tuesday, today being Friday I don't feel like I'm sipping enough & the gas pains are minimal with the gas-x strips but I can definitely feel the gas moving in my abdomen & im burping a lot!! My biggest pain is the bigger scar, the one where they actually remove the stomach from. I can feel the muscles underneath it & have to really be careful how I move. It's less sore today than yesterday.

I just got home about two hours ago. As soon as my husband gets here I'm headed to pick up my scripts and some gas x in which the dr gave me the ok. I don't really have much and pain, more of lots and lots of abd discomfort from the gas.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
