weight 326 8/1/13, 301 8/31/13, 289 9/12/13. What kind of exercise did you do to lose your weight? I just started walking on my treadmill. I got 1/2 mile and 15 minutes today but will get better. What are your recommendations?

Hello! I am preop but in the past I exercised a lot. I prefer walking outside, it's easier to get lost in thought. I like the trails at state parks. The dirt is softer on the body than sidewalk or pavement.

When I would do the treadmill at the Y, I would hop on 15 minutes into my favorite 1 hour tv show, that way I would stay on it until the end of my show.

Also, on the treadmill, if you increase the incline just a bit every so often, it burns a lot more calories. If you can set different programs, I used to like the random program as it would incline and decline randomly by itself, changing it up a bit, less boring!

Good luck!

I recommend that you keep at it and do your 15 minutes every day. After a month look at doing 20. I started out doing 10 minutes and had to take 3 breaks to finish. This coming Saturday I'll be walking my first 5K (with no breaks) :D

I started off walking around my towns beautiful lake 2 times, which equals about a mile and a half....I did that 3 times a week. I would also play the Michael Jackson wii fit game called the experience with my kids. It was absolutely fun as heck, and I would be covered in sweat at the end, plus had quality time with my kids! After I got into better shape I started hiking this 2 mile trail that was a moderate level of intensity. I would hike that 3 times a week....then I entered into a 6 week boot camp at a kickboxing gym. There was a contest with that and I one first place for overall improvement ( I didn't feel guilty for winning, or like a cheater because losing weight wasn't a factor for the contest) so I won a free membership to the gym. I was doing their moderate level kickboxing class 3 times a week for one hour each class.

All of these things added up to me losing my weight and meeting my goals. I think the most important thing for you to do in exercise is to find something you enjoy, and stick to it. If you hate it you are less likely to do it. Also, try to get a workout partner. You are more apt to stick with it if you have someone counting on you to go exercise. Start off slowly so that you can build up your strength, and make sure you get enough Protein in so that you are able to build healthy fat burning muscle! :)

Good luck!

I do a Kettlebell class twice a week and three times I week I see a personal trainer. We are working on strength training and functional movements, getting my mobility improved!! I really wouldn't mind if I got a cross addiction to exercise (lol!!)... I also do spinning occasionally, and very occasionally cardio - but I find it so boring :(

It's hard to tell in isolation what exercise works best as in the last 7 months I've consistently lost. Also I don't weigh everyday so as of now I've not had a stall or I maybe have, but just haven't noticed one. I think any exercise that you can manage is great. With such a huge variety and choice there is definitely something out there for everyone!! I would love to swim more, but most of the pools here in the UK are indoor and I always end up with a cold or something.. So I'm looking forward to swimming on my holiday in Turkey in two weeks - in the sea and lakes.. I'm 293lbs currently. Walking is great too, so keep going but I can highly recommend weights too.. They change your body shape incredibly!! Good Luck!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
