Pain in jaw and upper back

Recommended Posts

So, the other day I was sitting at the drive thru getting my kids a treat. I suddenly got this awful stabbing pain under both sides of my jaw and upper back. Now I've had pain before. But this was comparable if not worse than childbirth and my tooth abscess. I literally locked out on the steering wheel and started crying, thinking it was THE BIG ONE. It passed after 5 mins and I went home. After calling the nurse line, I was advised to rush to the ER, as these are classic symptoms in females. After all the bells and whistles; tons of questions, EKG and blood work the doctor says "so you've had gastric surgery? It's because you're Vitamin deficient, but we're not going to test for it. Take some ibuprofen...oh wait you can't...ok we'll discharge you in a bit." Well damn! what if it WAS gastric related? he sure didn't check it! I feel like he dismissed me and didn't take my pain seriously because I had WLS. And maybe it wasn't the big one, but I've been going crazy all weekend trying to figure it out. Anyone else have vitamin deficient pains that make you feel like you're dying? I'm making appointments today for the works.

Yikes! I schedule an appt with my surgeon ASAP. The way the ER dismissed you is absurd!

Could be symptomatic of a larger issue (i.e. gall bladder, if you still have it) - definitely call your bariatric surgeon for a follow up!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
