Best and worst "compliments"

Recommended Posts

Went to visit my father who had been hospitalized last weekend. It was the first time I had seen my family since July. Walked into the hospital room to see my mom, my brother and sister in law, my niece and her boyfriend all sitting in the room. They all got quiet, and just waited for me to introduce myself (they thought I was one of the medical staff). It took at least 30 seconds for my brother to recognize me. Lol, 75 lbs less of me to recognize. My moms mouth was just hanging open. LOVED IT!

"Wow, you look great! You're so lucky you could have surgery to do the work for you."

So to add to the stupid comment. Today I went down to lunch to warm up my Soup. Mind you I am 5 weeks out as of today and down 23 pounds. My lovely manager is siting there and she asks in front of about 8 people, so how much have you lost(she asks this almost everyday) I said well I am the same as friday. She proceeds to say, "well you would think the weight would fall right off of you" like i am going to lose 100# in a month. I said well I am happy with my progress actually. She is determined to show that I am either not following things right and eating dorittos for every meal, or that this is such an extreme step and it doesn;t work. Well F*#k her is all I have to say to that

exactly one of the reasons in not telling

Bosses aren't suppose to make comments like that. Talk to HR if it persists. Some people won't pass up am opportunity to make you feel "weak". I'm almost 8 months post and down 108. You keep your head up high. Don't let anyone put doubts in your way! You're gonna do fab!

My husband said " hey, you are wasting away!" To which I replied " hardley! I have a long way to go yet!"

I like every comment I get. It sure beats the non-comments no one ever sad out loud when I was fat. Everything from "wow" to "I can't believe how great you look" and even "you can stop losing now" and "eat a donut you skinny bitch". However, the "you have no boobs or butt so now you look like a prepubescent boy" wasn't particularly flattering ????

I`m sure it must be a cultural thing or perhaps we are more thick skinned but in certain parts of the north of England "You don`t sweat much for a fat lass" is considered a compliment !! Pippinleicester.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
