How often do you weigh yourself?

Recommended Posts

ive been checking every 3 days..... i figured daily is not enough to see a difference, and one week was too long to wait......... so i went half way.....

it was fine until now..... i would see a difference..... except for the past couple of weeks........ ive been yo-yo'ing with the same 5 lbs ...... i just had my first fill a week ago......when will i see more results??

im a bit disapointed because i wanted to lose more before my birthday coming up........ ive lost 20 lbs including pre-op.... granted its 20 less than ive been in a while... but somehow i thought it would be more.

I have been told (and learned to believe) that it is not a question of IF you will hit a plateau, it is WHEN you will hit it. I have bounced the same 5 pounds since Thanksgiving---I will lose 3 regain 2, lose 1 gain 2---it is constantly fluctuating. I have tried lowering the calories I take in, even raising them (which usually works the best for me, even now), and have increased my exercise...all to no avail. I have good restriction, I will admit my eating habits have fallen---and I am eating some of the wrong foods---so I DO have room for improvement!!!

Many times it takes 2 or more fills to reach a good restriction, so where you are is not uncommon.

Have you begun any exercise program? I slacked off on mine through the holidays, and that's when I slowed my weight loss down---I am back to picking it up again---and hopefully it will help.

I do notice my body changing even though the weight isn't. I lose inches, even when my weight in numbers does not change, it is like it rests, and settles, then gets started again!!!

Hang in there---we will get started again, it is just a pause!

20lbs is great! I know what you mean about checking every 3 days. I force myself to only check once a week. Really if I can put it off for a month I will. I feel checking all the time makes me feel discouraged. If I lose a pound and check the next day and gain it back I feel sad. So I really try to check once a month, but usually I can't wait that long. I get curious and feel if I gain I need to adjust something I am doing. Sounds like you are doing good. I wish you the best.

I weigh every morning.

It helps me start my day off right. If I am a pound over what I was then I will exercise a little harder. Or not eat that cookie that I want so bad.

I usually just go down. Slowly but surely.

Hi,

I used to have such scale anxiety that I faced the demon! I weigh myself every day. I see the ups and downs. Gain 4 for a few days and then lose...up and down with Fluid, etc. What it forced to me to see is that FOR ME, that up and down is NORMAL. I don't get all flipped out like I used to. It has been a therapeutic exercise for me to get over the number drama!!! I think you have to do what works for you! If you NEVER want to weigh, that's OK, too! It's all about what you need to do to feel good about you and your weight! Good luck!!!

I just got banded on Jan. 5, 2007 and have not weighed myself yet. I think I am scared too. I don't know how often I should weigh in.

Audree,

I, for one, am dying to know how much weight you've lost so far!

I weight myself every morning...I can't help it. I've tried only doing it once a week...but I just can't wait that long...oh well. Every morning works for me.

Every morning...it's the only way I see that a small fluctuation is ok here and there and instead i look at the whole week as a trend. I don't want to be where i step on the scale 3 months later and have gained 20 lbs (its happened before).

I weigh myself every morning, but I only count it once a week on Sundays. That way I can monitor it throughout the week, but there's only one "official" recorded weight.

Audree,

I, for one, am dying to know how much weight you've lost so far!

I am too, but I just don't know why I just can't do it!!

I am afraid of getting disapointed. I was thinking I would do it after my three weeks, when I start eating solids.

To often. I'm a bad girl. :guess

But I'm SO close to hitting a number that is such a tremedous personal goal for me, I kind of can't help it. The last two weeks have transormed me into a scale addict. :paranoid

I never weigh myself - only once a month when I go to the doctor. I seem to always get disappointed no matter what the scale says. I just go by the way my clothes fit.

I do it when I remember  Sometimes that's every day of the week, sometimes it's every 3 weeks. I know it sounds weird, but I don't really care what the scale says. I am buying smaller clothes and doing/moving more. I know it's working.

I also know I will have to update my ticker :) That amount was from last month. :D

I actually started this band journey when I was diagnosed as diabetic (no meds, diet contolled). I weighed 287 lbs. in October. I tried the diet, the I discovered the band and went to a seminar.

So the day before surgery (Tuesday), I made a chart. I was told I should average 1 - 2 lbs per week. I put the date of the first Monday and the weight at 287 lbs. I put the date of every Monday and a 1 lb. loss on the chart. With the diabetic diet and the pre-op diet, my first loss recorded was 30 lbs...so I was way ahead of the game.

I weigh every day, but I only record on Monday. I keep track of what I weigh...what date that reflects (which I am several months ahead)...how much I have lost in the week....the total loss...and every 4 weeks I average for the month.

I know it sounds kind of complicated, but if you saw the chart you would know it isn't. I may gain a pound in the week, but I am still WAY ahead of the game.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
