I FINALLY broke thru my 2 week stall! Lost a whole lb! And what to ask the RD today?

Recommended Posts

Yeah! Not sure there's enuf posts on here about stalls, so I thought I'd add yet another. I'm almost 8 weeks out and hadn't lost anything in the last 2 1/2. Every single morning (yes, I'm 1 of those daily weighers! Plz no judging) I anticipate a loss and every single morning I'm faced with the scale saying yet the exact same weight. I've only lost 18 lbs in 8 weeks. While I started at a bmi of 28 (I'm a band revision) I knew I would lose slower, but this is getting ridiculous.

So yesterday I thought I'd change it up a bit and actually count my calories. While I thought I knew the "range", I haven't actually counted them since being sleeved (seems much too like a diet to me). I came close to 800. I guess thats the magic number. I can easily do 800 (wasn't deprived or hungry at all) and even spared an extra 100 calories for 4 oz of red wine!

I see the RD today for the 1st time. Not sure what to ask him. I'm pretty much a nutrition expert myself by now. I guess that's why I'm still fat, huh? Did u guys have a list of ?'s to ask ur RD or did u let them lead the conversation? What do I ask?

When I see my NUT I let her review my food diary. I track liquids, Protein and "about" calories. I also live a fairly boring food life since I can't trust myself to get overly creative without peril (just me)... And no judging, weigh as much as you want, just don't let that darned box make you feel bad. At most it's just an average...

I too am at a stall and its normal... we officially are in starvation mode whether we feel like it or not. I've heard it won't last longer then a month but really who knows...everybody is different right!?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
