Booking tmrw with OCC and Dr. Ortiz. I am terrified :(

Recommended Posts

My girlfriend and I are booking tmrw with OCC and Dr. Ortiz. I was sooo excited leading up to it, but now, I am terrified :( Am I crazy? Can't I lose weight myself? Is it worth it? What if it doesn't work?

Ahhhhh. I know I can't be the only one that has gone through this. What did you say to yourself?

Hey there - I was sleeved by Dr. Ortiz on August 2nd. I had a great experience and am down 35 lbs from my pre-surgery weight. When I was researching doctors in MX I was very scared and tried one last ditch effort to get my insurance to pay here in Calif. When they refused, I asked my doctor to look at my top 3 choices for MX surgeons and he said without even looking at the list, Dr. Ariel Ortiz. My doc has been to conferences he has spoken at and even trained under him many years ago for a lapband proceedure. When my surgeon made the recommendation all fear and worries went out the window until about 30 minutes before I was to go under, I think that aprehension is normal.

The office is clean and up to date. The staff is very nice and the Marriott is like being on a mini vacation.

Be strong, fear of the unknown is normal. If you follow the rules for the pre and post diet you will do fantastic. It has been life changeing for me. I have a long way to go, but the daily struggle is gone for me. I love my sleeve and I know you will too if that is the option you choose.

Reach out anytime, I'm happy to answer an questions and have a list of suggestions of things to bring after a few other people reached out.

Thanks! It am confident with my choice in surgeon. It's just such a HUGE decision! have been doing our provinces weight wise group ( it helps you lose weight and then if still needed gets you referred to get sleeved or a bypass and its paid for by our health care system. It's usually take a year until you even get a referral then 6 months to get the pre op apt then another year to get the apt)

This am at my apt, she said that next visit she will put my referral in (in 2 weeks) but it will still be about 18 months until I can get it :( now I feel torn :(

That's a long time to wait. I say if you have the patience and its covered, then wait but if you have the funds and it feels right then go for it. I'm 35 and childless so time is of the essence for me

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
