Woohoo! That's great news all around.

Good luck with the run Meredith. I am really upset that I cant do the Run for the Kids in Melbourne this weekend - I've trained really hard to do the 15.2km distance only to realise at the last minute that not only was Doug going to be away but I have to pick up my kids from their cousins by 10 am - so not enough time, grumble grumble.

Oh well, I'm aiming to do the City to Surf in August in Sydney, at least I've made the distance now. Although that's a shocker apparently, right up through Rose Bay up heartbreak hill. It goes for about 5km this hill, you shoud see it! But then you get to run triumphantly all the way down the hill into Bondi, that will be an awesome moment!

Hi All,

Havenb't been on for a while stuff going on at home. Bronnie you sound like you are doing great keep it up.

Hi to all the newcomers.

I've been having chest pain since the band has abyone else had this, and alos very tired all the time I am taking a Multi-Vitamin, but they have done a whole load of tests inc ECG that should my heart rate was slow, waiting on other results and need to have a chest x-ray done.

Going in for my first fill tomorrow looking forward to it, does the doc decide how much Fluid to put in? Can I ask for 2ml if he wants to out in one etc??

Glad to hear you are all doing well. Good news on the port Sussanah!!!

Meredith what can I say you inspire me!!!

Hi All, Anybody catch the story on A Current Affair last night about the family of lapbanders? They were a father and his two daughters who ran a restaurant that offer smaller serves of meals to those customers who request them. What a good idea. I reckon we would be better off as a nation if we all ate smaller serves whether you are banded or not. I think Australia has gone down the same path as America where monster servings of meals have become the norm.:welldoneclap: I think we should reverse that trend.

Anyway this family was all banded by the same surgeon who thought this was a unique situation. What about Meredith's family I thought!:) It does happen. Stories about lapbanding are becoming more and more frequent on the current affairs shows. Maybe more obese Australians will take up the challenge. Apparently surgeons are only treating/banding 1 in 200 people who need it.

TGIF!!!!!:biggrin1: Yay ,the weekend is nearly upon us. I need some serious down time.

Hi all....

well im on soft food and its great. I decided to treat myself today and i ordered 1 X steamed dim sim. I managed to get through 1/2 of it once i squished and shopped it..... Im still amazed how little i can eat. I believe even if banded.... i deserve small treats occasionally.

Dionne.... ive been getting chest pain on and off since banded. I believe this is due to gas remaining trapped.

Hi All, I don't feel anymore restricted with my second fill. Is this normal? How many fills will I require before I feel good restriction?

I agree with you on the treats Bron and Mez, but I have a lot more weight to lose than you both so I don't allow myself to have any at this stage.

Man I used to love the peppermint freddos!:)

Hi All,

Well just got back from my first fill and it did not hurt one bit!!! I was really surprised I didn't even feel a sting. Doc put in 4ml!!!! and I go back in 1 mth he said may be too much may not be enough I need to call him if I have any probs.

Looking forward to making a dent in the weight now. He said my tiredness can be my reaction to the surgery and told me that I need to eat solids not liquids so no more up& go's for me!!!

Hope everyone is well.

Hi All, I don't feel anymore restricted with my second fill. Is this normal? How many fills will I require before I feel good restriction?:)

Susannah

Totally normal! I have had 6 (is it 6? Or 5??) fills and I have only just felt restriction properly. Like I take a few bites and have to sit back and let that go down before I can assess whether more is ok or not. I think maybe I could do with a teeny tiny more in there. But I'll go with this for a month first and see how my weight loss is. Before this last fill it wasn't like that really, maybe for 24 hours after the fill but then I was back to eating anything and quite quickly. Some people are lucky and don't need much in thier band to feel restriction (like my dad who PB's with 3 mls in his 10ml band) and then theres some like me who can eat most everything even with 8.5 mls in a 10 ml band (except bread and english muffins, they always give me chest pain, I learned that the hard way!). Like EVERYTHING with our bands its a lot of trial and error. You'll get there Susannah!!

I want to be one of those 50kg losers yesterday too. God, that would be just so bloody awesome! It would be like dream come true... I often try to picture myself another 20 kilos lighter and I just can't even imagine it. Very surreal!!

So an NSV for me today. I went to the gym and jumped on the treadmill this afternoon and before I knew it I had jogged a whole 5kms! I haven't ever done that far before but I kind of wanted to test myself before Sunday's fun run rolls around. I was so chuffed. Burned 500 calories doing it too. Pat on the back to me :clap2:

Hope everyone has a great weekend planned!

Hi everyone, nice to meet a few new names too- Paulie, I know you said you originally did not want to do the support group thing, I am glad you are at least trying this. I did not want to be heavly involved with support groups, I thought I may make me focus too much on this part of life but I had a number of years of problems post band due to other medical problems and I really felt like a failure- after all the message we hear is that wls must work if we do the right thing, when I did and i did not work I felt really miserable and it has been through the support of other bandsters that I have been able to sort the issues out and be more successfult in the past 4-5 months than in the previous 5-6 yrs!. I do not go to a support group but hope to change that soon, in the meantime I sue this and another message board and would not trade them in for millions!- I hope you find t to be a positive experence too!

Booking is in the name of Tara and we have the area seperate to the rest of the room up a couple of steps. The "bandsters shuttle" will be at Cranbourne station at 1.45 for anyone wanting a lift, however it looks like it is very close to the station anyway. Anyone banded, thinking of banding, family, friends all welcome.

Hi All,

Well had my first PB experience and OMG it was painful, uncomfortable and the most un-natural thing I have ever felt obviously 4ml is doing the trick !! I was eating chicken sand and gave myself an hour to eat it and I was doing really well it was on the last couple of bites that I knew I had had too much but too late!!!!

I am hiring a treadmill this week as I live in the middle of no-where and need to get in the car to get to the road!!! I won't walk aroung the prop as I have my daughter who is 2 and there are lots of snakes and large bulls roaming around I am really looking forward to it!!!

Don't worry Bronnie I'm right there with you choc and easter to bad times I'm really trying to keep myself away from the easter eggs!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
