Recommended Posts

Dear Bandsters,

I was Banded in Dallas. I would like to know if there are any Doctors, in Austin TX, that are not affiliated with Southwest Bariatric Surgeons?

I am also interested in finding a doctor in Austin that will do a fill on someone being banded in mexico and that is reasonably priced. This is not my first fill. i've been banded almost 1 yr. and had some fill taken out b/c i was too tight and have gained 10 pounds.

I was banded in Mexico. Dr. Patel with Texas Bariatric Specialists has a location there in Austin. I go to him here in San Antonio. He is awesome and very knowledgeable. He did my first fill with no problems at all. Here is the link.

My doc Dr Rincon see's patients banded in Mexico as well as other docs I belive. He is in San Antonio . I live in S Austin so it takes me about 45 mintues to get there. He requires certain things such as medical records and a few other things im not aware of. My fills are $125 for flouro and the fills them selves are $150 . He's a great doc. Click on my sig line for his website.

You would have to give them a call to get all the info .

SW Baratrics is about the only deal in Austin for now . Hope that helps . feel free to email me if you have any questions. I can put you in contact with 2 or 3 more of his patients if you like. a few of us car pool for fills

My doctor does them but it's $1000 for the paperwork and initial consultation and then $1000 per year for the fills.

Janed......

He had no problems finding mine with the pillow under my back. It's good to use the pillow because it pushes the port up. You will do fine and he is great at his job and has a very enjoyable personality which eases any jitters!!

Good Luck!! Tell him Marion M. sent you!!!

He charges $235, maybe a little less now. That is with or with fluro. If you go to the Austin office they do not use fluro, but in San Antonio they use it. He is a great doc. You may also want to check into Fill Center USA that just opened an office in Austin. The price is more on initial visit, but down the line maybe cheaper.

Anyone who used Dr Ricon in San Antonio,

Does he require Fluoro at every fill or only the first one. I live in Austin, but am not using the FillsCenterUSA only because they only do it on Wednesdays and it is 4 weeks backed up to get an appointment. I cfalled at week 3 post op and could not get in until Oct 15th at 9 weeks. I AM NOT GAINING weight back because of this. Also on other Threads several people talked about the lady doing the fills as very unfriendly and not compassionate at all. The initial visit with Dr. Ricon is less but if we have to have fluoro everytime then the fills are $30 more. If no fluor then $90 less.

ANyone know?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
