Recommended Posts

Well I was suppose to be sleeved aug 19th. As I was lying there waiting to go for surgery, the surgeon, tells me he thinks I should not have the vertical sleeve done because of my servere hiatal hernia repair I had done last year. He suggests a Rny bypass . I was so lnto the sleeve being done, ive done my homework on this sight and I really thought the sleeve was the way I should go. But I guess he knows best but now I have to have that new procedure re submitted to my insurance company which took 2 mos before..ugh so discouraged.

Oh no.. that would be so disappointing. I would have thought he would have seen that issue before it was submitted to the insurance. Hopefully the approval will be quicker this time around.

I was supposed to be sleeved 6-25 and it got postponed like hours beforehand...I finally had it done on 7-30..you will get there..don't be discouraged ..hang in there, everything happens for a reason and he probably knows best. Turn that frown upside down chick :)

I know I wish he would of looked into my file sooner..In the beginning I wanted the bypass and he suggested the sleeve, he must not of realized how bad my hernia was. 1/3 of my stomach was up in my esophagus causing me severe pain..Now I have to research the complete bypass and check out the forums for gastric bypass stories! ugh

You may want to get a second opinion on the sleeve. Also, if you decide to go ahead with bypass, consider not going to the same surgeon. He doesn't seem to have paid enough attention to your case as you went through the process.

You need another doctor. You also need to recover any costs associated with him not reading your file. Such as pre-surgery prep, visits, anything you will have repeat, pay again, do again. This is malpractice. He by admittance did not review your case enough to matter until the day he was going to cut on you. You are in a meat-mill, in my opinion. You are having your stomach tampered with in either situation. RnY leads to excessive mal-absorption issues, but makes him alot more money.

You should also rate this doctor and put your experiences in detail here, and tag his name.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
