"You're losing too much weight"

Recommended Posts

I just got my first "you're losing too much weight" comment today. I ran into someone I haven't seen since I was sleeved, she told me how good I looked and told me not to lose anymore weight. I told her I still need to lose at least another 40. She said no just stop now! you're going to look sick! Now I'm 198 @ 5'3 so far from being a healthy weight... which is what I'm aiming for!

People say the darndest things don't they. Once about 15 yrs ago when I lost a bunch of weight I was 25 lbs from goal which I never reached before I started going back up. Anyway I actually felt pretty good about myself and the way I looked, my activity level and the way clothes fit. So my female friends are saying you look great, you don't need to lose more, etc... The up walks one of the husbands and said, You'd really look great if you lost another 15-20 lbs. I said, Gee thanks! You're doing great and should do whatever feels best for you!!!

You will get that from time to time. What I have found, is that I went from being 366 pounds and am right now sitting around 224 in about 11 months, for everyone else around us who doesn't see us all the time its such a drastic change that they do think we look a lot skinnier than we actually are. I have had people tell me not to lose anymore.. I'm 5'5 and 224 is not where I want to be at.... I know its hard but try not to look too much into it. Losing a large amoutn of weight in a small amount of time not only makes you look at yourself in different ways but others as well. DO what makes you happy, until your Dr tells you that you are loosing too much weight, keep doing what you are doing. :)

Weird that one of the husbands said something, I would have giving my husband the death stare... It's so funny how people feel the need to comment on something so personal.

I know. They were neighbors & his wife wasn't there at the time but when I mentioned it she rolled her eyes & shook her head & said he's such a jerk.

I wasn't bothered by it, I just don't feel "small" or "skinny".

You're doing wonderfully, keep it up until you're satisfied, don't let others bring you down. You and your body will decide at what weight you need to be at. I think your goal weight sounds great.

I've been getting that lately as well, including from my wife. I still want to lose another 5-10 lbs, I only just today got to within the 'normal' range on the BMI chart, I want to get a little lower in case I bounce back a little in maintenance.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
