2 week clear liquid diet

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the warning, I'll be sure to lock myself in a room away from people on day 3, lol. Have you lost a lot on it? I'm thinking its got to be some significant pounds with so few calories

I have lost 14.4 pounds since I started this 2-week pre-op diet on August 8. And I had lost 10.7 pounds when I did a one-week trial of the Clear Liquids back in June. Overall, since I saw my surgeon for my initial consultation on April 25 & started the high Protein, low carb diet the same day, I've lost a total of 42.7 pounds. I look at it as a head start on my post-surgery weight loss.

My surgeon is very strict on the diets. Post-op I'll be on clear liquids only, no Protein shakes for a week then the clears & Protein like the 2-week pre-op for 3 more weeks. On week 5 I start pureed foods for 2 weeks, then soft foods for 2 more weeks. Finally, on post-op week 9 & beyond, I introduce regular, solid foods. But this process since April has showed me that I can do it.

OMG today is day 2 and I've spent most of it in the bathroom! Sorry for the TMI. Has anyone experienced this? Is it going to last for the entire 2 week liquid diet? Oh I hope not, I'm sitting at my desk at work and you can hear my tummy rumbling. Ugh

Yesterday I was really hungry in the late afternoon so I had more Jello, some homemade chicken broth & still more sugar-free drink mix. Today is day 14 & I'm not hungry. I'm too busy getting last minute stuff done for surgery tomorrow. I check in at 5 am & it's an hour drive to the hospital, so I'll be going to bed early &, hopefully, to sleep early. :D

I'm having such a tough time, I cheated yesterday. I had 2 slices of low odium deli turkey. I spent all day at the hospital doing preop testing and the class and when I got home I was so dizzy and weak I thought I was going to pass out. I figured the 2 slices of turkey were better then the alternative of ending up on the floor. Hopefully today I do better. Oh and yeah I'm a nasty b*tch right now too, everyone in the house is kind of just ignoring me! 11 full days left....

Today is day 4 for me and my stomach is not handling this well. I'm definitely less hungry today but shakes and all this artificial sweetener is not agreeing with me.

My surgery is scheduled for Sept 4 at SSM DePaul Hospital in St Louis. Dr Morales requires a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I negotiated down to 10 days and today is day 1. Not too bad today - the only downside I can see right now is having to haul all this liquid to work. It'll all work out.

@ Jamie

I am the 27th as well and have been really good and only lost 5lbs. Can't figure it out, but I have been driving myself crazy!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
