Should I get my passport in order before making scheduling LBS?

Recommended Posts

I have decided to go with Dr. Ortiz. I do not have a passport yet, and I also have to get financed with a co-signer. Should I get my passport ready or on the way before making final plans and scheduling LBS?

Thank you for any and all replies in advance. :lost1.5lbs:

Peace,

Judy

Get your passport now. It will last you for 10 years so doing it early is no big deal. I went on vacation last year and waited 2 months prior to leaving and had to pay the extra money to have it sent rush delivery. It really wasn't worth it but I had no other choice and it was my fault for waiting so long.

Good luck and best wishes.

Yep. You need to get it going a.s.a.p. It will take like 2 months to get it. I just go my family member'd done. It was longer than the 6 weeks they said it would be. I am sure it is because needing it to go to Mexico is new.

Good luck on your surgery. It is a life changing experience!!!!!!!!

Dr. Ortiz is a great lap band surgeon so it's a good choice. But if time is a real issue and you don't want to wait there are good U.S. docs in a similar price range. Mine is at www.lapbandrockies.com

He's just a small bit more than Ortiz. Just a thought.

From reading the U.S. passport website if looks like they extended the deadline if you are traveling by land until 2008. If you are flying directly into MX, you will need a passport now.

That is correct. I need to get one soon even though I won't be needing it until 2008. I started the procedure then backed off when I heard it wasn't needed right away. But I agree with al, do it now so it's out of the way.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
