Able to eat 4oz (103 g) of pudding 8 days from surgery-no problemWHAT?!

Recommended Posts

A little freaked out that I was just able to consume an entire cup of sugar free Jello pudding in 7 minutes this close to my surgery date! I felt full when I finished but not even remotely uncomfortable, is it due to the consistency that I was able to consume that much? Since starting on yogurt, pudding, Soups on Sunday (6 days post-op) I have had an actual feeling of hunger. I am just over-worrying about this whole process and maybe it won't work for me! I see my surgeon on Friday for staple removals and will ask then, but in the meantime can anyone else share a similar story from their experience?

Does your surgeon allow sf pudding that close to surgery?

You may be able to do that now, but after your surgery you will not be able to consume pudding until week 3 and even then you will not be able to eat it that quick.

I think she is post op.

We are all different. Now you know why they call it "slider" food. It slides right by the sleeve. And here's something to think about, just because you can eat something doesn't mean you should. You're fresh out of surgery....don't push your limits. It's natural to want to know where the boundary is....it will become apparent as soon as you start on solid food again. The full feeling will come very quickly.

I was allowed pudding week 1 post op but I never attempted a full cup. My suggestion would be to only eat half for awhile even if you CAN eat a full cup. No reason to push to your limit, especially if you don't want it. Pudding is not very nutritious unless you are adding Protein Powder, so save the room you have for something you need.

The issue is to eat till you dont feel hunger not till you are full. I never ate to my max because I never felt the urge to - why bother making your stomach full and stretching it all over again?

Yes, I could eat a whole cup of pudding as well. I think it's because of the consistency. I am now on soft foods and had mashed fish and broccoli the other day and had to take time and couldn't eat very much.

Don't worry. Just go slow.

Just keep in mind that is 30-60 less calories a day you can use to get in Protein rich food. When I was allowed pudding I would have 1/8c at a time and I made it myself with skim milk and unflavored protein powder.

I'm all about most bang for my buck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
