How long till you felt human

Recommended Posts

I can't say exact because each person is different. But each each week is different. I was shopping at 1 1/2 weeks with whatever energy I had. I so would keep in touch with your Nut if i were you, in this case because I found out That i needed Vitamin B 12 and a mutil and Calcium. Any time I skip Protein and protein shakes to this day I'm weak even at 5 1/2 months out

Good luck

for me it was about 3 weeks out. I did have a setback at 10 days I was re-admitted for pancreatitis, but they were never sure if it was surgery related.

After week three I kinda felt like a person again. Also, I could join my family for dinner at the table (we're big on eating as a family so being left out of that was hard) and eat some things at that point.

My first couple of weeks were spent going from my bed to my couch. I had to make myself shower and get out of the house every day even if it was to just wander around the drugstore, because I knew it was important to move everyday.

At week 3 I tried to take a walk and thought I was going to have to call a cab to take me home. But after that walk, the tide turned and I started feeling human again. When I started on soft foods at the end of week 3, then I had more energy.

At about a month post-op I felt fabulous. And still do at 3 months.

Just keep moving and drinking. It will get better,

For me, it has been a bit longer. I had a few setbacks, but now 7 weeks post op, I am beginning to feel like a human being again. Energy level is getting better and less nausea. It is different for everyone, but I have found that it is just a process and we just have to do our best to follow the rules and know that it does get better. Unfortunately, there is no specific "feel better" date. That would have been so nice. Best of luck...hang in there.

I feel like a zombie right now and my hair looks like a rats nest how long did it take you to feel human again?

I had surgery on a Tuesday, I could have gone back to work the following Monday. I was on the treadmill at the gym a week after the day.

My Mom passed away unexpectedly a week after surgery, and then I had complications, so for me it was a process.

It sounds odd but I just put one foot in front of the other for a very long time, and I am not entirely sure when that changed. It was gradual and some days were better than others.

It's a journey! Be kind to your body - brush your hair and take a shower just a tad bit colder than you want...breath deep and be ok with how you feel.

It took me about 7 weeks to feel normal. I was out of work for a month and even when I went back, I still wasn't myself.

Everyone is so different.

I could have gone back to work this week. Loads of energy, little if any pain. Gonna clean my house and pack fir a weekend camping trip today. That's more than I ever wanted to do pre-op.

Feeling rough will pass. I had my surgery on Tuesday, started really feeling more normal on Saturday.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
