I think you are doing well. Maybe your expectations are unrealistic. I've lost 18 pounds post op. my date was July 23rd. I'm thrilled. You have lost 18 in 20 days, right? I don't think it can much better than that!! Hang in there. It will happen.

Thank You Elaine, but is kind of weird thise 18 pounds were gone in the first 2 weeks, so I should change my goal to 100 pounds in a year? What will be realistic?

I don't have any idea about 5 months out. I'm just saying that I think 18 pounds in 3 weeks is incredible. I know you said it was in the 10 days and now nothing for a few days. I just think that there's probably a maximum a human can lose, say in a month. You may lose it like some, who lose several all at once, then stay the same (or "stall") for a while, then lose another chunk. Others may lose every week. At the end, though, it will all even out, based on certain factors, likely metabolism, intake and exercise. This is based o n no facts or information, just my gut opinion. I see a lot of people getting disappointed by losing "only" 25 pounds in a month, or "only" 18 pounds in 3 weeks and it seems like it's just being to hard on yourself:). You are averaging 6 pounds a week, even with the stall. That's awesome. Sometimes you just need perspective to say, wow, I am kicking butt and taking names:)

Sleeved July 23, am down 17lbs. I haven't been able to lose 17lbs on my own since before my daughter was born 5 1/2 years ago! I am down one size in pants and my tops are looser. Such a great feeling. My weight loss was definitely fast the first week and a half then has slowed down considerably to 1/2lb every 2 days or so. BUT I have lost faster than I have on any other wl plan. So I'll take it!

My typical diet:

Breakfast: 1 scrambled egg w/low fat cheese or a shake 4oz

S: baby bell light cheese

Lunch: 2.5 oz of tuna salad

S: SF Protein pudding

Dinner: baked ricotta (my new fav food!)

S: 2-4oz of Protein Shake

I was drinking Gatorade because I was severely dehydrated the 2nd week in. But now just add it to my Water throughout the day.

Exercise: walking, light cleaning and 'running after' my 2 kids age 3-5. Also my resistance bands every other day. Hope to get in the gym 3-4 a week in the next week or so.

Enjoying my journey one day at a time. This forum is extremely useful and helpful!

Good luck all!

I got the recipe from another post which was originally from the website the world according to eggface. Check it out! There's even posts on Pinterest!

Shelley's baked ricotta

8oz of ricotta cheese

1/2 c parm cheese

1 egg beaten

Salt and pepper

Italian seasoning

1/2 c Tomato sauce

1/2 c LF mozzarella cheese

Mix in a bowl the ricotta, parm, egg, and seasonings then spread over in a pan. I used an 8x8. Then top with 1/2 c of tomato sauce. Then 1/2 cup low fat mozzarella cheese.

Bake at 450* for 20-25 minutes. It made about 9 servings.

When family was over having pizza I had a piece of my ricotta. I really didn't feel deprived at all!

Good luck!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
