reflux and pain

Recommended Posts

after my last fill i have been getting reflux and pain between my shoulders blades, aches on and off and won't let up after an hour sometime. i can't even eat that much lately. I starting to find out i can't even eat a little greasy food after this band tightening.

i put a heating pad on my back it aches so much. i don't like the taste in my throat

I am down 51 pounds and very optimistic and glad i got this band and don't mind the pain when i can rest.

Anyone that would have any advise, chewable rolaids i just tried aren't doing that great.

I have no advice since I haven't experienced that myself....but I would suggest calling and talking to the doctor's office who banded you.....

Sounds to me like your band is too tight. Maybe your dr. can take some out. You've done so well with your weight loss. Good for you! Do you still have your gall bladder? The pains you're having be from that. Have it checked out.

thankyou for that,i will ask my medical doctor about the gall blader thing as i was concerned about something else like that.

i don't think i am to tight as the reflux just started happening and i had my last fill before in november.

it may be stress with the new boyfriend, too much laughing, or the weight training. i am going to call the lapband centre and ask about that.

Chew on a few tums and call the doc. It does sound like you may be to tight. However, back in the fall, after I got a fill, I too got heartburn. I cut back to liquids and mushys, then cut out the grease, after about a week everything was normal again. I didnt have shoulder pains though, just heartburn.

Take Care.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
