Sleeved on 5/15/13 and no problems. No nausea, no vomiting, no complications. I was tired the first few weeks (lots of naps), but now I have energy to burn!

too easy????

i've had many operations - so the WLS itself' date=' didn't concern/scare me

i wasn't too concerned about eating and drinking properly post op

things did go well with all (no sickness, vomitting, gas et al)

my concern from the beginning was always.........

"how the heck am I gonna be successful and not only lose the weight, but keep the weight off forever and a day

For me, once i reached goal 10 months ago - thats when the hard work starts...................

and my new wonderful life continues!!!!!

gotta keep following all those "sleeve rules" (Water, eating, portions et al)for the rest of my life - so i can keep my "girlish" <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> figure!!!!!

don't look for trouble!!!! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ph34r.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

glad things are going so well for you <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Great advice! I think maintenance will be challenging!

It was nice to meet you at the hospital and hotel. Glad to hear you are doing so well. I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia on 8/6 and I have been doing great too. No issues so far. I am so pleased for you.

Thank you for this post. I always hope that these board are like what you find in costomer service. A happy customer tells one person, an unhappy customer tells ten.

So when I read over and over again about people struggling, unhappy, or having regrets, I have a secret hope that many more sleeves are out for a walk or happily watching a movie with family. I also wonder if sleevers who have an easy recovery don't want to post for fear of hurting feelings of those suffering.

This site is amazing, and I have learned so much from every post I read. I had my pre op today, surgery 8/19. I'm a bundle of nerves, this thread was just what I needed to see. Now I'll put away the iPad and go for a walk!

I truly believe part of my easy recovery was the fact I was so prepared. I was prepared for pain, gas aches, head hunger, emotions, etc. I was also committed to keeping the eye on the goal...even at my worst. This forum helped me tons and I had everything I could possibly need already purchased before surgery...just to ease stress. I also started walking 30 mins per day immediately....first few days were around my house!

Best of luck to you dear!

I was miserable the first 10 days. Chest discomfort, shortness of breath, itchy, hiccups, shoulder pain, reflux, and severe weakness. I felt like I'd swallowed a golf ball and it settled in my chest. I think most of my symptoms were due to the hiatal hernia repair. I'm feeling a lot better now. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks and I'm going back to work on Monday.

I am the same! I had very minimal pain was awake and alert the same day as my surgery (which was on Aug 1st) and I went home the next day. I'm hoing back to work on Monday and feeling almost like normal

I felt the same way. I definitely hyped up for the surgery. For me I like to plan ahead and be prepared for the worst but I'm definitely glad it was easier

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
