    I was in process of changing insurances on July 1 of this year. I called my surgeons office mid June and told the cooridinator there what insurance I had. I was able to call BC/BS late June and was able to get my id number and other info. She called right on July 1 found out what my requirements were and I started as soon as I got back from vacation doing requirements.

    So I would call now and talk with the office. Great if you can start on Oct 1.
