Just curious: after surgery are you eating according to hunger or schedule?

I have been told to eat according to schedule as I am supposed to not feel hunger. Really hoping that is the case.

I eat according to how my body feels - sometimes it's minor hunger, sometimes it's just because I feel weak and know I need some food, sometimes it's the time of day. Hunger still exists post-op, but it's nowhere near the same sensation it was pre-op. Furthermore, only a tiny bit of food (comparatively) is needed to satiate me even when I do feel hungry...sometimes, just drinking some more Water does the trick!

I eat normally by schedule. Usually that falls in line with when I feel the most hunger. The only time I deviate from that is when I am really thirsty. Sometimes I'll take the extra drinking and push off eating.

I am eating according to hunger. If I just ate and my stomach starts grumbling, I eat on some ice chips. That usually stops it. I make sure that I eat enough protien grams with what ever I am eating so I don't get hungry.

I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and I'm supposed to be eating 3 meals per day. I'm on soft foods. When I progress to a regular diet in another 2 weeks, I can then add 2 Snacks. At present, I'm doing an hour of cardio per day, and since I started that, the 3 meals just isn't enough. I add 2 Snacks now...I was feeling weak without them burning up the extra calories. I have turkey sausage bites, turkey Jerky, string cheese, or mini babybel cheeses.

I only eat high Protein snacks...no exceptions.

I'm 3 weeks out. I can honestly say I have never felt hunger since I woke up after surgery. I noticed that if I smell something good simmering on the stove I feel the appetite kick in and I want It. If I have a bite or two I'm good and don't need more. If its ok for me to have it I usually do that. If not I just have a bite of somethingon my list. Yesterday that thing was broccoli beef, garlic shrimp and fried rice. I prepared that for my family and had every intention of putting a few pieces of the beef in my Bullet then mashing in some of the broccoli. I planned to have a piece or 2 of the shrimp also. I wound up taking one broccoli floret and mashing it up with my fork and having that and 1/2 cup cream of chicken Soup. I found I just didn't want any of it after all.

The cause for my weight problems has always been rooted in my love and constant craving for potatoes and Pasta. I still prepare these things for my family and I am shockingly not tempted at all. My husband can and does eat baked potatoes in front of me very often and I would never have believed I could be untempted by that. My family has spaghetti and meatballs once a week and I have learned to finally make enough to serve each them with no leftovers and not want any. Not feeling hunger makes this surgery worth it to me on its own. If the weight would come off as fast as I want it to I'd be all set.

I am three weeks out today and I eat four times a day on a schedule. 7 - 11 - 3 - 7

I am not hungry and have to actually remember to eat. I also find that it helps for me plan ahead and manage my Protein over an entire day. The first couple of pureed days, I was at the end of the day short but now I have a pretty standards Breakfast, lunch and snack which leave me room to try new things at dinner and not have to be trying to get 30g of Protein in.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
