What is the deal with chicken? & best tasting protein bars?

Recommended Posts

i was sleeved on 6/24 lost 18 on pre-op and about 33 more since surgery---- trying to be more creative in what i eat as it is getting a bit boring but I won't do anything i am not supposed to yet. I had to fly today and flight connecting times were tight, so stopped at McDonalds next to my gate, got a cheeseburger - only ate the meat and cheese with some mustard and the onions.

Thanks for Premier Protein - but hard to take when i fly

But what about chicken, ,, I have heard so many say they struggle with chicken - why is that? is there a best way to have it?

And what is the BEST tasting Protein Bars - I am a Peanut Butter/Choc fan - saw a wafer type(think thin) this weekend to try and Classic Zone - again will try I know i can be particular to tastes but since I fly so much I need a bar option as I can't always get a shake drink in

I found chicken easy at 6 weeks out. On the fly I do a grilled chicken wrap I eat the chicken and a little of the wrap. Over the weekend grabbed a kids chicken soft taco meal and was able to eat the whole taco after about 1/2 hour. I am 10 weeks out. Protein bars I like Luna protien and choc covered soy Beans.< /p>

I am three months out and have been eating chicken at least 5 times a week since about 6-8 weeks out. Even before that I had a tiny bit of chicken salad and have never had a problem. I guess everyone is different but I make chicken so many different ways from on my salad or with veggies for dinner.< /p>

I eat Atkins chocolate chip bars. .they are yummy.. and I believe 17 gr of Protein. I sometimes eat the nature valley Protein Bar that is 10 gr of protein.. also yummy. I usually eat plain chicken breasts.. but if its in a burger.. I take the chicken out and just eat that.. I cant eat the whole thing tho.. too much.. and congrats on the weight loss.. keep it up.. its a great journey.. .Im not fond of the Protein Shakes either.. every now and then I have one.. but im so far out now I can get most of my protein with food.. and a lot of atkins bars lol. I was sleeved dec 20th 2012. Im down 107lbs and im 29lbs from my goal wt..and 7 months out... its been a fabulous journey. I love all my new clothes ive boughten..and love to shop now.. before I hated it..now I find im buying more clothes and jewelry too.. and a new found love of purses.. my poor hubby LOL. best of luck to you. :)

struggle with chicken - why is that?

txbucki

some people have problems tolerating certain foods

a common food many people have problems with is eggs

chicken is also mentioned

for good or bad  I never had any problems eating anything

as far as Protein bars..............

Quest bars are spoken about as being good

many people, including me now - treat Protein bars like a "drug" ;)

they are addicting, eat one, can't, don't want to stop!!!!

dangerous for me to have around the house

for me - staying away all together is my choice

The best Peanut Butter / chocolate Protein bar I have had is the Pure Protein brand.

Quest bars are very good, but I have only tried it twice and that was lemon and chocolate chip cookie dough. After hearing how addicting they can be, I do not want to take the chance by having them around.

Typically, I might have 1 pure protein bar a day or 1 every few days. Not a big deal; it is just a 180 calorie snack and fairly low carb (2-3 g).

Oh and the worst protein bar of the same chocolate / Peanut Butter flavor? That would be think thin. Considerable more calories at 270 and cardboard taste. Not worth it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
