I don't think they know anything. I think they advise against it because they see a risk that it could stretch your sleeve. Some Drs don't say never again but many do because the risk is too great for them I think. I personally gave up a raging habit and have not considered picking it back up.

I am 8 months out and occasionally have a diet soda. It gives me a lot of gas but other than that I am fine. As far as stretching goes, I don't think anyone knows for sure.

My doc said no more ever. Cause the gas will strech your sleeve. And if you try it to early on it can cause a leak. Yah I'm doing so good I do not want to risk it. So I have made my mind up no more coke for ever !! ; (

I used to drink at least. 2 liter of diet soda a day... I don't drink any anymore. Sometimes it isn't convenient, but I'm probably a better person for it.

I've had it on a few occasions. No issues- unfortunately... lol. My dr. Recommends a drink called sparkling ice if you want the bubbles- it's lightly carbonated.

I'm allowed any diet beverage and that includes sodas. I was told to wait 6 weeks before trying a soda though. I was also warned that some people don't tolerate soda and if it caused discomfort that I shouldn't partake (duh) I don't have soda frequently because I don't see it as something that is healthy for everyday, but an occasional diet gingerale is yummy.

I have some soda every now and then. I haven't had an issue with the sleeve stretching. What I do notice is that no matter how little I drink or how slowly I drink it, the carbonation makes me feel like a big balloon. And forget about wanting any food after having soda. It fills me up for a long time. For the most part it isn't even worth it.

If I really wanted a bit of soda i would go to my soda stream and instead of tapping it for full carbonation i would tap it for very light carbonation, maybe 3 taps instead of my usual 12.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
