Anyone else extremely nervous???

Recommended Posts

I know how you feel Stacyrtl, I was so worried I wouldn't wake up that I made vidoetapes for everyone telling them how much I loved them! You'll do great and congratulations.

It's funny, well not really, but I have seriously thought about writing letters to all my family members and friends, just in case something is to happen. To say my good bye's and I love you's, and all that good stuff. But then agian I am affraid that I will infact discourage myself in some way, and maybe it sounds a little crazy but, I'm affraid I will some how "JINKS" myself. I'm trying to stay positive.

Hi Rachel

I can relate to anxiety. I am scheduled Feb 13th and the excitement of finally getting approval and scheduling is giving in to anxiety. I have to start a CIB liquid diet Jan 16th for 4 wks, that seems like a life time I hope I find the strength to get thou that. As for the not getting to eat it never again I am guilty of last time syndrome, eating every favorite food because it would be the last time ever. I just started realising that is not true, some day I will be able to in smaller and wiser amounts.

GOOD LUCK Terry

My fear, Feb 14th, is not waking up from the surgery and leaving the wife with three kids, without my income.

I am absolutely terrified of the surgery!

Reading all your comments have made me a little less nervous. I guess everyone goes through their own different thing. I'm glad I've found a place where I can express my thoughts with other people who understand or on the same wave length... :huggie: I'm glad i found this site!

I'm being banded on the 17th! I'm nervous, but I'm only nervous about how I'll feel after. The temporary pain, nothing more. I figure it like this. I've always wanted to be like the others, and if that means I have to deal with it, then I will. as for the food, ok at first you can't eat much, but after a while, small portions of things isn't going to kill you. You just can't overdo it. Then again, what do I know...I'm not even banded yet. This is just what i've read/heard. Be excited! not scared :huggie:

From what I've read, there are lots of emotions running through people's minds as the surgery date moves closer! I'd have to agree with everyone that being nervous is perfectly normal!

As for me, I was more excited than scared about the surgery. I was really looking forward to totally changing my life and I trusted my surgeon. I figured that the "life" I had been living wasn't so hot, so why feel bad about leaving it behind?

Since the banding, I haven't looked back! I've been sticking to my eating plan like glue and I can tell I'm still losing weight even without my first fill. I'm not starving to death and I don't miss the foods I used to eat at all because I can tell I'm getting healthier. I can wear three outfits already that didn't fit me before Christmas!

Just keep focusing on the prize and you'll be just fine!!!

But hey I'm going to be positive because this aint that big o deal! Its either this rite now or a major heart surgery in say 10 more years so I figured this would be best.

My date is Monday Jan. 29th, and I started out real nervous last weekend, but now I am more nervous about missing work all of next week! I am trying to tell myself, I will feel great and be back at it by Thursday...

Mostly I am worried I will be in pain afterwards, more than being scared about the surgery itself.

Hi, my banding date is February 20th......I am really nervous too..My main fear is the fill..From what I have seen most people say it isn't painful, but needles bother me. I am nervous about the surgery too. I think I will do well w/it, but sometimes I still wonder. I am just going to try really hard and pray about it.

Hey all you guys quit being nervous and scared evrything will be just fine during and after. Yeah I can say that now. I was the same way about April 25,2006. But guess what I was scared and nervous for no reason.

It has been a very smooth and exciting ride and I am almost at goal. Seems like the time has just flown by. Just remember to follow your doctors orders and you will be on your way. Good luck to all of you.:(

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
