I'm getting 100-125 grams of Protein per day. I drink one Isopure flavored water and one twelve oz shake. Combined, this is 90 grams of protein by themselves. I still eat cottage cheese and eggs but have started on fish and lean deli meats. Last night's 3 oz of salmon was good for 24 grams of protein. It's not always easy or flavorful but, protein sources are out there. Be positive and try as many as you can within your prescribed diet.

Premier is my go to also. I pour it over ice to thin it out a little. Only have tried the choc. Just slowly work on it with small sips and it will eventually be gone lol. Still takes me over an hr to drink one. I am 4 months out. Early on I ate yogurt or Peanut Butter on a spoon to get in some Protein too.

Put Protein Powder in everything you drink and eat.

I'm approaching 9 mons post op and getting 60-70 gm of Protein daily. Most come from food, but I still do 1 Protein Shake daily after i exercise that contains 20 gm of protein. At this point, even if I wanted to, don't think I could eat any more than I do now. Levels are ok, as doc said min should be 60 gm daily with most coming from food.

What can you possibly eat that you have time to both prepare and consume that has the required 60-80 G Protein a day?

I'm still on shakes and purée foods so far haven't had a day yet that I don't reach it ... I log it on my fitness pal

Today I had coffee at 6:30, 1.5 eggs "dry fried" around, lunch I had 1/2 a link of Italian sausage that I bought at the farmers market Saturday and a string cheese, dinner- I made sour cream chicken enchiladas- I replace a little more than 1/2 the sour cream with Greek yogurt (my hubby hates the thought of Greek yogurt- and he has no idea, so it doesn't change the taste)- I don't eat the tortilla on mine- so I get 2ish oz of shredded chicken and cheese. And sauce :). I made guac and had a little dollop of that on the side. For Snacks I had 2oz of beef Jerky and a babybel cheese. According to MFP- 850 calories and 59g of Protein so far. I may have another snack later...

Sorry for the copy/paste. I don't prepare dishes as it's just me. Kids are out of the house so not feeding a family. I do 6 mini meals a day. Some stand bys for me are hot choc /decaf (15g) . 2 light mozzarella string cheese (12g). Chobani Lemon Greek Yogurt (15g). Boars Head Ever-roast deli chicken 2 oz (13g). Al Fresco chicken sausage (14g). Morningstar Spicy Black Bean Burger (11g).1 pouch tuna/1/2 c 1% cottage cheese (31g). Gortons Simply Bake Tilapia (20g). Unjury Protein Powder 1 scoop/8 oz skim milk (29g) and sometimes I add 2 T of PB2 which brings it to 34g. Each one of these standbys is 1 mini meal for me. I don't have room for anything after eating it. Don't eat them all on the same day but keep my cals under 900 for the day. I shoot for 90g a day. Sorry for the run on paragraph. My enter key is not working ONLY on this website. Have contacted Alex/Tech but no solution yet.

I just found out yesterday that I've been getting to many grams of Protein for me to only 5 weeks out. (97plus). And over 700 cals. To much protein means to many calories. Talked to my NUT yesterday and he told me to be careful. I've been using a scale and should use the 1/4 oz measuring cup for volume not scale for weight. I was scared that I wasn't getting enough protein when I ate to I drank the Protein Drinks in between meals. THIS IS A NO NO! So yesterday I joined fat secret.com so my Proteins and cals can be added for me once I entered what I ate. I've loss 29 lbs in 5 weeks, it's possible I could have loss more.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
