Vitamins & Pre op?

Are you suppose to start taking vitamins during Pre op?

My surgeon has all his patients start taking bariatric level of vitamins 2 weeks before surgery to build up stores of them, because it's often hard for people to get in all the vitamins they need immediately after surgery.

Taking Vitamins when you're not getting all of your nutrients from food is always a good thing - surgery or not. Most people don't eat a balanced diet, which is why the Vitamin market is such a big business.

Having said that, I wasn't told to start taking vitamins until I was post-op.
