I feel so frustrated

Recommended Posts

Hi ! My name is Nichole and this is my first time posting on a forum here. I am 2 1/2 weeks post op. I am now starting solid foods (about three days ago) and I am doing pretty well with anything Ive tried. My frustration is with the stupid scale !! I lost a lot of weight my first week or so (about 20 pounds). Then in the last week NOTHING. The scale wont move. I know that was a crap load to loose in less than two weeks but now I am feeling frustrated. I can barely get in 600 cals a day right now ( I am getting my Protein goals though) and I am exercising everyday and nothing ?? really !?! I know this is just irrational thinking but I am thinking what if this dosnt work for me ??? What if I don't loose ??? I have worked so hard to get here and I just don't want this to be another failure. Prior to surgery I was not focused on the scale at all ....just living a healthier life ....now post op Ive become obessed with the scale. I need to just put it away and stop weighing myself and get focused on living healthy. Sorry ....just needed to vent and rant :)

You WILL lose. I promise. :) Your body is just adjusting. I lost 50 pounds in 6 weeks I think. Not for sure until I look at my tickler but don't fret because it will come off. No way it can stay on. We just go through these stalls because our body had to adjust to all that has happened. It is in survival mode right now. You are doing all the right things it seems from your post. Congratulations on being sleeved. You have a wonderful journey ahead of you. Just relax and enjoy the ride!

If you search here for stalls, you are not alone! It is normal and it is frustrating for sure! Been stalled for a few weeks now myself

There's something called the "three week stall" which started for me at two weeks. Hang in there--your body is adjusting. Look at it this way--even if you don't lose until 4 weeks, that's an average 5 pound per week loss. Keeping rocking it.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
