It depends on what you do. If you have a desk job you maybe able to handle it. Iam a labor and delivery nurse. I took 8 weeks off because of what my job entails. Standing lifting for several hours at a time. You are the one that can judge but for me if you can afford stay home as long as hey will give u. You don't get extra sleeve points for going back early!

Hi there,

That is pretty quick to go back to work already. I had mine on 6/10/13 and went back to work after 5 weeks. If you don't feel up to it I would check with your HR dept and find out how much time you are allotted?

Good luck

Thank you all for the quick replies...I have plenty of weeks paid in full at work under my disability plan, but I'm concern with the job responsibilities.

:( I'll wait until Monday morning and decide.

I would take all the time I needed for sure. Of course, it's only been since Tuesday that I had my surgery & I still feel like I was run over by a Mac truck ~ twice! It's easier to stay off when you're off rather going back to work & realizing you went back too soon.

Good luck to you on whatever you decide Lucy!

I have surgery on 7/10 and went back to work the following Monday (7/15). My surgeon was a little surprised I went back so soon. I think it's completely up to the individual. If you're tolerating the pain and your job is super physical, try half days or partial shifts to build up your confidences.

Take the time u need... I'm taking 4 weeks... It's an adjustment and I needed the time just to adjust my new food plan

I took 10 days but could have gone back in 5. It depends on how you're doing.

I took two weeks off...but I wish I had taken longer. I was sleeved on July 1st and I'm still having issues...I get really tired and often very nauseous.

I could have gone back pretty easily 6 days after surgery, but I waited until 13 days and probably benefited from the extra rest time. When I went back to work, it was to a brand new job at a new company, and I've been fine.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
