Effects of Protein Shakes

Recommended Posts

Wow! I wonder why. My NUT said he has the same symptoms as well. I'm going to give Premier a try. It has to better than the way I've been feeling for the past 36hrs. I look & feel 7 months preggo. Lol Thankful I haven't brought my entire pre-op supply yet.

Hey everyone,

If you read the list of Atkins products, Malitol is an ingredient that is a sugar alcohol which oftentimes causes bloating, gas, & in some folk, diarrhea. I loved Dr. Atkins candy bars and boy as soon as I ate one, it was a wrap...lol

Hope this helps.

I am having surgery next week. Just a question, Since you can't drink that much, how long does it take to drink a shake? And to keep it cold? doesn't the ice melt and it get yucky? Is there any Proteins that you can drink in the clear liquid stage?

I am also starting a pre-op diet next week. Is there any difference between premier and bariatric fusion powders? Also, what exactly am I allowed to have? Good luck to you BTW!

Your NUT or DR should have given you a list.....are you meeting with them b4 the liquid diet?

Here's what I'll be doing....however, this is for someone with the 40-44 BMI range.....

6 Protein shakes (the goal here s 960 calories and 78g protein)

Optional snacks: SF Jello, no added sugar popsicles, no cal flavored Water, herb tea, Decaf coffee, crystal light, diet snapple, Water, fruit-2-0, no cal iced tea, clear broth and non caloric sweeteners: splenda, equal, sweet & low, stevia/truvia

Good luck! definitely ask your providers, because everyone is different.....best wishes --p

PS My preop is all liquid.....If I am desperate enough for something to chew, I can use my ice shaver, pour SF Syrup on it.....or Protein drink.....

Yes that is what I have been doing this weeks. I use 1/2 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk' date=' 1/2 cup coffee, 1 tsp splenda, ice, sf caramel Syrup, and three scoops of EAS lean Protein Powder. Love it and low cal _22.5 g protein.[/quote']

I am wondering can you drink all of that at one time? I am really having problems getting my Protein Shakes down?

I have been replacing one meal a day with a shake all last week to get ready to start this week's liquid diet. I've been on the road almost all week so it's not been very easy, but yesterday, I found myself CRAVING my shake! I was in an airline lounge filled with free, fatty, sweet food, and I made myself a shake instead. The first sip of that was sooooo good!

I'm using Cytosport's 100% whey in chocolate and vanilla that I got at costco. I use a blender ball bottle that I got on Amazon and let me tell you, it's a lot faster than cooking :P I'm lactose-intolerant but I don't have any issues with the Cytosport which we've used for years now actually.

I'm also enjoying Unjury's chicken Soup Protein powder when I get tired of the sweet.

Based on rave reviews from another forum, I will order Syntrax's Chocolate Mint from Amazon shortly, and I ordered some NOW foods unflavored protein powder to mix with Water etc.

I am pre-op right now...so its not that bad . I would just start by cutting down the amount of the liquid added to see if you can get that down.

I started the pre op diet yesterday. The only solid food I am allowed to eat is Meal Replacement bars and a few hard-boiled eggs. I like the way the Atkins tastes, but sometimes it does bother my stomach. I am drinking Giant Sports Protein Drinks and Water.< /p>

Are you bloated as well? I'm wondering if I take a medication to control the lactose from the shakes... if that would help.

I am loving the chocolate Splendor Unjury in skim milk. I make about 8-10 oz in my Blender Bottle. I don't have any gas issues with it.

I would try a lactase pill which you can buy over the counter anywhere. The brand name is lactaid.

Today I added some PB2 powder to my chocolate Protein Shake and WOW! It was super yummy! If any of you have a sweet tooth you must try it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
