September Sleevers...! Come on in and chat!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 9/16. I'm just getting off of a two-week stall (I think!) and I'm down 20 pounds since Sept. 5 when I started a self-induced pre-op diet. My surgeon didnt require more than one day, but I needed to wrap my head around things. Since surgery, I'm down 13 pounds. It's been slow. I weighed 239 on the morning of surgery.

Hey everyone! Just wondering if anyone else is having acid reflux/heartburn since having surgery? I did not experience this until after having the surgery. Anyone have any advice, I'm living on Prevacid AC now :(

I'm not, but have you tried to change what you're eating or drinking? Sorry I can't be of some help. I heard that is common though.

my doc gave me a prescription heartburn med. I am supposedd to take one a day for 30 days because of all the acid that can come up from surgery.

Thanks :) I'll have to call the doc again.

Hi Nickie,

I know every doc is different, but my doc said he had his patients take nexium or protonix twice a day for first month. Because many have problems with reflux. Also most will not have reflux or need the medication after the first month. Good luck.

Thank you so much for the info... Hopefully they can give me something, I'm getting it from plain mashed potatoes and it's turning me off from eating anything at all

Fortunately I an on Omeprazole so this is not a huge issue for me, unless I consume a little too much. Then I will get heartburn every time. My bodies way of saying " hey, I am all filled up".

He also put me on Actigall to prevent Gallstones. Anyone else have to take these?

I headed into VSG with acid reflux and unfortunately it didn't leave after surgery. I have learned that I cannot take my meds all at once now. My doc has taken me off the gallbladder prevention pills and take our chances. The heartburn was that miserable.

Good luck!!

OK. Need some info. A Guy at work was sick a few days ago and now I believe I have what he had. I was at work and started to feel nausea and joint pain all over but mostly in my lower back and legs. I am now running a fever of 100 but don't feel bad or miserable.. I recently had some Constipation and strained a bit but nothing harsh. Just hope I caught what he had and not the symptoms of a leak.

Oh. I am 35 days post op. I have dropped 40lbs in a stall right now but have never had an issue from day one. Just hope it is a minor stomach bug.

Let me rephrase, I have mild body aches similar to the flu just not as extreme. Very slight nausea, keeping things down and a low grade fever. To me it feels like a bug. Just hoping someone has an answer for me.

I have a cold too. I took claritin and cough drops. I had a low temp fever but that went away. Definitely was not a leak...just seasonal cold.

My doctor gave me liquid Zantac to take twice a day as a preventive measure. I have not had trouble, still taking as prescibed. He said He did not want me to have any type of ulcers in my new smaller stomach.

Is anyone else still crushing meds 4 weeks after surgery? My BP meds are so bitter, trying anything to make them more palatable. I think I have another month to go of the crushing them....YUCK!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
