I had a lap band, lost all my weight and have put it all back on over the last two years.....this count down is going so slow. I was healthy, thin and happy for years until my band slipped. I can't believe I'm back at the beginning again. Well my new sleeve can't slip so I can't wait.

I'm hoping for a September approval. I'm on my last hoop to jump through tomorrow. My surgeon said I'm good to go after that. It will be up to Cigna at that point. Please send your positive juju my way.

I wish everyone a speedy recovery!

My surgery date is September 16! I'm excited and scared and then excited again! I haven't told anyone except my mom (who will watch the kids) about the surgery. I don't want to hear the negatives. Deep down inside I am scared I will be that person who doesn't lose anything and fails. Right now I don't have to do a liquid diet, just Clear Liquids the day before and 2(!) 10oz bottles of magnesium citrate the afternoon before (this can't be good). Anyone else have to down 2 bottles?

Hi, I have not told anyone but my mum and two friends. I have told everyone t work I'm getting a hernia operation, I don't like doing this but like you I don't need everyone's opinions....I went through it with my band I told everyone and it doesn't take long before you get some negative opinions. This time I'm keeping it to myself!! Well except the Internet LOL.

Pete :)

I'm bummed I just noticed this thread! My date is Sept. 3! 8 days away. I started my liquid diet today! My pre-op appointment is tomorrow at 9 AM. I'm getting very excited but also very scared, and a little overwhelmed with all of the supplements I'll have to take after surgery and also overwhelmed with the liquid diet this week. My surgeon recommends a pretty strict diet with only my Protein Shakes, sugar free drinks and sugar free Jello, low sodium broth and tons of Water. Day 1 is going well but we'll see how the rest of the week goes lol

@birdmadgirl I'm from Detroit! I'm having my surgery at Henry Ford Hospital downtown! :)

I started my liquid diet today too. So glad it's only for a week. My pre-op appointment with Anesthesia is on Friday. Crazy nervous that something will come up during the appointment and cause my surgery to be delayed.

Sept. 3rd is right around the corner. It's starting to feel like this is really going to happen.

I got a list at my nutrition class on last Wednesday. I am supposed to get a multi Vitamin, calcium citrate that dissolves in my mouth and B 12 vitamin.

I have to take 2 Calcium per day, 2 multi-vitamins, 1 B12, 1 b complex, and Vitamin D everyday so I can make sure I get in enough nutrients. I would check with your doctor to see what you should be doing.

You will be deficient if you don't take any vitamins after surgery. You should be taking it now with the pre-op diet! You're not getting the nutrition you need with the shakes and definitely won't be getting it off the fluids we'll be drinking post-surgery and purees. It's all too calorie deficient plus we're not eating fruits/vegetables.

Mexico Bariatric Center gave the outline for vitamins:

1. chewable Multi Vitamins once per day.

2. Women 100 – 1200 mg of chewable calcium citrate with Vitamin D

Suggested vitamin protocol:

Breakfast: Multi-vitamin/mineral with Calcium

Lunch: Multi-vitamin/mineral with calcium

Dinner: B12 with calcium

Bedtime: Iron

I think we're good to go off the vitamins after a year when we're eating all our calories and getting in fruits and veg. Although for women it's a good idea to continue with Calcium for life.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
