Well' date=' I def had my BIG meal for breakfast! Fixed "pigs in a blanket" for the Grands and ate four then realized five has 410 calories![/quote']

Lol! Go figure something like pigs in a blanket would have so many calories!

But yum that sounds good!

It's decided! No fasting for me today! :D

Hey everyone! Been busy - if I comment on everything that's happened since I was here last my post would be ten times longer than usual (i.e. just plain ridiculous) so if I leave anything out it's not intentional!

Congrats to all the losses logged this week. Georgia's leading the way there with a huge loss.

Swizzly - staying constant on the scale is something we've all dealt with and I want to ask (without offending) if you had considered that you might just need less calories on your regular days to lose? I know you're not gaining (I don't on those numbers, either) but losing is a challenge for me unless I bring it down. Have you tried taking the average of your non-fast days for a week and shaving 20% off that number to kick start your loss? In any case, hang in there. As long as it takes, right? Look at coops, she's a champ. :)

A special hooah to coops on finally knocking down on the scale. Great work, lady!

Laura - congrats to your girl on her National Guard choice. It can't be easy to have her gone. My oldest stepson is considering AF or Army ROTC scholarship or simultaneous membership program (Reserves or Guard AND ROTC) and we're excited for him. My husband enlisted 24 years ago (got out for commission four of those years) and it's been a really great experience for us. I'm sorry you spend so much time closeted in the house - I hate that, and it's a huge reason that I've struggled with depression at various points. Constantly moving doesn't allow me to really pursue a job outside the home (or at least not easily) and having young kids means I spend my day in the house most of the time. It's hard to socialize, I don't really want to socialize with other moms and if you add in a dreary rainy week on top of being stuck in the house I get pretty blue. It's one reason I cook and bake so much. I genuinely enjoy it, I can do it with my kids and it helps the time pass more quickly. I spent a very unhappy year in Mannheim, Germany when the twins were at a really tough age and I swear the sun made an appearance once a month.

And I'd say NO WAY are you old enough but my hubs is only 40 and his oldest just turned 23 the other day, so I know it happens. Hell, I'm 32 and my mom turns 50 next month - she was barely 17 when she had me.

Normal day for me - scale bounced back to where it had been, which is a huge relief. I'm at 141 again hoping to stay there tomorrow, too, so I can record it for the week. If that sticks, I'm down 2.4 this week. That brings my grand total so far to four weeks and just over 8 pounds down. That's amazing results for me, even if I sometimes feel like I'm plodding along.

Hope everyone is doing well. I feel like I spend all my time cooking. Last night was gyros, fresh pitas, tzatziki (of course!), chickpea salad and Greek salad. This morning I made crepes with several different fillings and turkey sausage/bacon for everyone. I have ten in the house right now, plus the baby. Yikes! In a few hours I'll get started on tonight's dinner. Thank goodness for dishwashers.

I can't remember what I weighed. I am not sure if I gained yesterday from a regular day. I didn't eat anything bad. I really should not weigh every day.

Everyone is doing so great! I do love this way of eating. It's completely cured my grazing. I am sure staying in contact with all of you is helping 100% too! Cause all I did the past year was up 2 lose 2 up 2 lose 2. It was so frustrating. At least now I have hope that I will get down to at least 140.

Edited to add that I have gained back a lb. I looked on some past posts and I was at 145 after a fast.

One feast days we are sill supposed to diet right?

I had my resting metobolic test taken and my TDEE is

1300 calories. I should be eating under that on non fast days, right?

I had a pretty big eating day yesterday! It felt like I was eating all day.. So I'm going to rein it in at least today because I feel very bloated.

It doesn't help that I have about one bowel movement a week! I know tmi but its a fact of my life theses days! 0_o

My Mom was having major issues and started using a product called Nutracleanse. Don't let the name scare you, you it is just:

Nutracleanse is made from these Natural Organic Ingredients :

  • Flax Seed
  • Psyllium Husk
  • Dandelion Root Powder
  • Burdock Root Powder
  • Fenugreek Seed Powder

My mom swears by it and I have actually started trying, but only used it this morning, so I cannot comment much. It is a Canadian product, but I found it on Amazon

How did you take it this morning? In food? Does it taste bad?

You are doing awesome! I did not realize that you had lost that much already!

I was thinking that we should start a thread with our start dates of the 5:2 and starting weight current weight and so on.

Laura, I just mixed it in with my yogurt this morning. It makes the yogurt pretty thick, but the texture was not too bad and the taste was fine...if you have ever had ground flax seed, that is all it tastes like, pretty mild, slightly nutty.

They also have recipes, you can make it in a smoothie or into a pancake. I might try that as well, but I haven't bought a bag for myself yet. And it is really filling! I was so full after eating it, I didn't eat again all morning. The only thing is you have to make sure you drink a lot of Water all day when you are taking it or it can have to opposite effect.

Another thread would be a good idea, although I am not doing that great, but hey, what can I do!

That's a good idea Laura. I have actually lost more than I am counting because I used what I normally weigh as a start but I always had a gain on the weekend. So if I counted that, I've actually lost 7 lbs

yesterday wasn't a fast day (next one is tomo-Monday) and I wasn't really hungry. I had a biscuit thing for brekkie- which was late morning , a handful of nuts and dried cranberries for lunch and pork with roast veggies for tea... I didn't look for food in between and didn't want or crave food! If this is a 'side effect' then I am chuffed about that!

I went to Curves in the morning on an empty stomach -just had a cuppa before hand - and I have to say, I did feel a little tired. I don't think it was due to not eating, more to do with getting up and going straight away; almost like my body and muscles hadn't woken up properly!? However, I do like going in the mornings, kinda getting it out of the way and the rest of my day is my own.

Okay as promised here are the stilts my 12 yo and I made last week.

I agree with Coops about the feeling on a non-fast of not being hungry and seeking food. Side-effect maybe from fast days? Love it though, it reminds me of being a newbie sleever!

I did very well yesterday and the scale rewarded me. Today I am going on a picnic at the river with my daughter and a friend. They will be bringing junk food, I am sure. I have to try to be strong!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
