This Just Got Real! :)

Where I live you have to go through the information session, meet with the bariatric doctor however many times your insurance tells you to, see your nutritionist, see your exercise person, have your psych eval, and have your other doctors sign off that you are candidate for your surgery and they deem it medically nessesary. Oh, and loose a little weight too. THEN you have your consult with the surgeon. Today was the "big day" with the surgeon and my support people!!! We again went over which procedure I would like, and why not the others. The insurance break down. For me it went something like this... Well, after everything is said and done hospital, anesthesia, blah blah it ends up being in the high 20k's. With your insurance your out of pocket is 1220.00. Blink:Blink... Insurance covers 90%. I knew that, but good to see in numbers, especially with a husband freaking about costs anyway.. He basically dictated my letter on the spot, told me "I haven't had to fight the insurance companies a lot lately", sent all my info back to the bariatric doctor to be sent off to Cigna by the end of the day... And the wait begins... I know it's paid for, once we get approval from Cigna we get a date! Could be middle to late August he said.... My new life will begin next month! In the car I started crying, and my mom asked me what was wrong, I said nothing at all, I'm just so happy that changes are coming. Just so happy to feel like I know it's going to happen if insurance cooperates. I meet the 40 BMI, did the hoops, and even have some co-morbidities. I feel like a shoe in, is that bad? Is that wrong? I don't want to rub anyone the wrong way, but I can only praise God for this.. God has made this process bearable. God has made those last 2 lbs I needed to meet goal to melt away after I just knew I gained some. I feel this is the way He's leading me, and it feels good to know.. I am sooo very excited, I can't begin to put into words! :) That is all, have a good night! :)

Your feelings are normal. I think most of us had to sort of push our way into the surgery and let all the distractions and complications with getting started float away. It is great that you look forward to this because you are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel and you want that. Keep going forward and let us know if you need help.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
