After 5 days of my pre op diet, hundreds of dollars later I get a phone call yesterday saying that I hadn't reached my deductible for insurance and I would have to pay $2,400 before surgery. Well I don't have that much and neither does anyone else. My parents had said they would cover the cost but weren't expecting it to be that much and didn't have that much saved... So Friday morning I get to call and cancel my July 15th surgery.... I am utterly heartbroken!!

Ohhh kalie, I am truly sorry. I was in the EXACT boat!I had started my pre-op diet as well. I was only five days into it also!!! I wanted to fo binge soo bad when i got the news!!!

I ended up using my AFLAC insurance (wellness checks I had not sent in paperwork since2005. I filed and then ended up getting $1150 !!!) I needed $1050 more. A total of $2200!!! No one was able to float me a loan and I didn't have it either. With the grace of God, I prayed and spoke to my pastors wife and she had given me a name of a place who did loans but the interest is high. I thought why not try? I went and applied and got the money the same day.

BTW, I have awful credit! I thought I was going to pass out!!! I felt so blessed and relieved. I don't kniw if something like this is an option, but don't give up yet! I will pray for you & I really hope this all falls in place for you! {{{Hugs}}}}

kailie

i'm sorry WLS isn't gonna happen now :(

but..............please don't give up

don't have the money now??

qualify for a bank loan??? co-signer???

any chance to save up before the end of the year - so you don't have to restart the journey with a new deductible

i know money is/can be a tough issue for many of us

if it isn't gonna happen this year - it can still happen

don't know your age - but its never too late for WLS

and just cuz you can't have WLS right now - TRY not to eat yourself 10-20+ lbs

but.............

if you never are able to have WLS (which i hope won't be the case) - life will go on

wishing you luck towards a plan and getting WLS :)

good health and happiness vibrations being sent you way - with an "attachment" of a hug too :)

kathy

I'm so sorry. Don't give up! Look at all your options. See if they will take payments. While I am not a fan of payments and debt, I would do it in a minute knowing how much healthier I am at 4 months out.

Keep looking for a way.

Good luck!

Credit card, loan from 401k account, payday loan, care credit, can they do a payment plan? Don't give up you still have time to come up with something.

Is a loan an option? It's a small one if its just 2,500. Or maybe apply for a cc that has 0% interest.

Have you talked to your insurance carrier? Most insurance plans say if you are using an in-network provider that they can't ask for money up front. Also, you should see if you have any pending claims out there that might go to your deductible! Don't give up so easily - there HAS to be a solution! How much can your parents loan you? If they can come up with half, the hospital might be wiling to let you do payments for the rest... but I still think you should look into whether or not they are "allowed" to ask for money up front - in most cases, they aren't!!

Good luck! Stay strong! Save the money and STAY ON COURSE for surgery. it could be a blessing - the more you lose pre-op, the more you practice the lifestyle changes pre-op, the more successful you will be post op.

More surgeons accept Carecredit. Its interest free if you pay with 2 years I think. Don't quote me on the time. You can apply online and get an instant answer. Its a loan for medical only.

It makes me sad to hear this..... :( I hope you can find a solution to help get what you need to have the surgery. I was totally thinking about a loan too. In california we have something called care credit where there is no interest for the first 6 months. Heck I'd go for the high interest loan if I had to. This is so worth it. Keep trying to gather the co pay and please talk with the hospital about a payment plan. Don't give up....Keep trying.... :)

Please don't give up hope! I didn't have the money either, but I have managed to find the money. I am stealing from Peter to pay Paul. But it is gonna take awhile to pay it back. I am also borrowing against my 401K, which I is a no no, but heck if I ain't around to enjoy it what good is it. I hope you don't give up! Just put it in your mind it's just not gonna happen right now, make a plan to save a few bucks every month.

http://www.carecredit.com/

Interest free if paid in the time frame they give, instant approval online and it'll ot you nothing to try. I was going this route if i had been denied.

If my boyfriend applies for this could I use it for me? I'm currently unemployed due to mobility issues. So I won't qualify for anything

I have a friend who had to use carecredit for something also and was going to suggest looking into that. I hope and pray it works out for you! payments on a $2400 loan wouldn't be too bad! Maybe youcould pay it down or off with a tax return next year?

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
