when did you have your steak again

Recommended Posts

I began to have steak again at about 2 1/2 months although I was lifted of all dietary restrictions at 6 weeks. Lots of people can't do then but I have had no adverse reactions to anything I have tried.

Yes, it's as good as I remembered! :)

About 6-8 weeks. I like tender, juicy cuts anyway and don't ruin my steaks with over-cooking so I think that helped with me being able to tolerate it so early :)

I think my 1st steak was at week 5 or 6. When I was back on regular foods. Steak never bothered me, chicken breast, however, still occasionally makes Frankensleeve grumble.

same as others have said. About 1.5 to 2 months out. It fills me up quick, but chicken seems to stay with me much longer and keeps me full for a long time. Beef Jerky is my favorite thing ever now gives high Protein lowish calorie and low fat.

We make our own Jerky (we actually have commercial equipment because we make so much of it! ). I suspect that jerky will end up being a large part of my to-go arsenal.

I was wondering when it was safe to venture into eating steak since it's really not listed on my surgeon's eating plan. I think I may have found my next thing to try over the 4th or when we go out to eat . . . .

I had to wait 3 months for beef, pork & lamb. I'm right at that point, but awaiting a green light from my NUT with my follow up appt at the end of the week. Some folks have a hard time tolerating red meat after surgery, so my bariatric team prefers to go on the cautious side. I never thought that I could go this long without beef (especially not being a big poultry fan) but time goes by quickly. I'm probably going to start with some hamburger first & see how that goes.

y'all are making me jealous, my surgeon doesn't allow red meat until six months out :( (I love steak and I'm under two weeks out, I've got a long wait ahead!).

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
