I don't care what people do in the privacy of their own homes at all, but I don't believe they should have the same rights as heterosexual couples. The Bible strictly states in several books, such as Leviticus, Romans, and I believe II Corinithians, that homosexuality is an abomination before God. If God had these scriptures put into the Bible, I don't believe it is genetic. Animals don't choose to be homosexual, just humans.

I have to say this sounds a bit hypocrital. You don't mind people being gay, and having gay sex in the privacy of their own homes, then quote the bible about how it's an Abomination.

Did you choose to be straight? Could you have sex with another person of your gender? I couldn't. I love the women in my life and couldn't get by without them, but I can't imagine having sex with any of them. And I didn't make that choice. Oh, and there is homosexual behavior in animals also.

Another very liberal idea that I totally disagree with is the right to disipline your children. I do not advocate child abuse in any way form or fashion, but the government has way to much control over how parents are allowed to disipline their children. The Bible states that those who spare the rod, spoil the child. No corpral punishment is allowed in our school system or at home in todays society. Children are taught in kindergarten that if their parent spanks them, they can be turned in to CPS and removed from the home.

You really know that kids today are being taught that in kindergarten? Not that I know of, and while I'm not a teacher I am involved with education in my area.

Well, I'm sorry, but children need disipline to learn the rules of society and how to be decent human beings as adults. As I said, I do not advocate child abuse in any form, but most of the children today have no respect for their elders, no respect for their teachers and run around acting like brats disturbing everyone around them and being rude.

No question they need to learn those things. I did, and I never once was spanked in my whole life. My niece is learning those things, and she doesn't get spanked either.

Prayer has been taken out of school

No, it has not. Kids have every right to pray quietly, or to themselves. Which is in accordance with the Bible.

I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Not that I've seen. I do see people thinking that public money shouldn't fund religious displays, but I didn't have anyone tell me I couldn't decorate for Christmas this year.

People are even wanting to take In God we Trust off of our money.

You are aware of the history of "In God we trust" on money, right?

And, don't even let me get started on the Christmas issue. No Natavity scenes on public display in the city, but other religions have the right to display theirs. Holiday tree instead of Christmas tree, Winter Holiday instead of Christmas. The list goes on and on.

And you have example of how other religions have had public funds pay for their displays while Christians ones are denied?

Courthouse Moses draws ACLU's attention

Although it appeared to be a gorilla to some at first glance, to many it was clear that the wooden chainsaw-carved statue on the courthouse sidewalk was Moses holding the Ten Commandments.

In an effort to determine if the county is offering a public forum for free speech expression, a letter was written to County Mayor Brock Hill from the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee (ACLU-TN). The letter was revealed during Thursday night's building and grounds committee meeting of the Cumberland County Commission. The letter came out during a discussion of the Moses statue.

"Were you aware that the ACLU had written a letter to the county mayor on this subject about Moses?" Cumberland County resident John Wund asked the committee members.

"No, I have no knowledge of a letter. Have they written a letter?" 1st District Commissioner and building and grounds committee chairman Harry Sabine asked.

"Yes, they have," Wund responded.

"Brock, have you gotten the letter?" Sabine asked County Mayor Brock Hill.

"Yes, I got a letter and I gave it to the county attorney and have not heard back about it," County Mayor Brock Hill said.

The letter, dated Nov. 13, reads: "Dear Mayor Hill, American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee (ACLU-TN) recently learned that a statue of Moses holding the Ten Commandments has been placed on the sidewalk directly in front of the Cumberland County Courthouse. While it is our understanding that the county neither erected the statue nor granted permission for the statue to remain, it has not been removed. The decision to allow the statue to remain indicates the creation of a public forum for free expression. We write requesting written confirmation that this display area has in fact been deemed an open public forum, as required by law ... ACLU-TN embraces the unique American right to freedom of speech and expression ... By writing today, ACLU-TN simply requests written confirmation that an open forum has indeed been created such that all persons may express their religious, political, commercial and civic views freely in this public setting."

The letter was written by the ACLU-TN Director Hedy Weinberg.

"We received so many calls, letters and requests about the Moses statue that we felt the letter was necessary," Hedy Weinberg, ACLU-TN director, said in a telephone interview. "We haven't gotten a response back from Mr. Hill. I understand the statue has been removed, though, and now a nativity scene is there. That is clearly a religious expression."

Weinberg continued by saying the ACLU-TN had not received any complaints about any individual or organization being denied to display an expression in Cumberland County.

If requests by others who wish to hold a display are denied by the county, then it could create a problem, Weinberg said.

The building and grounds committee is waiting to hear an opinion on the letter from county attorney Jim Thompson.

Also that fact that it was done on a Muslim holiday is awful. It would be like hanging G.W. Bush on Christmas. One would think the powers that be would take these things into consideration.

U just took the words out of my mouth, I wanted to say the same, like imagine one of the leaders of the USA is executed on Christmas, it wasnt nice at all and it reuined all of our holiday!.

I know I am answering this too late but As an Egyptian muslim girl, I can see very well that the media played it well to make u have mostly a bad picture or even untrue one about our society, So i chose to stay away!.

My heart goes for ur troops that Mr Bush keep on sending to Iraq, everyday While watching ur news from Nbc or abc and seeing families saying goodbye to their sons and daughters, it breaks my heart, but on the otehr side and to be FAIR just put urslef on the Iraqi's shoes and tell me wont u try to get rid of anyone who is just trying to invade ur country ?, I guess there would have been better ways to solve this problem other than this solution.Both sides are losing lots of victims and I just hate it!!, Now saddam is gone, regardless u like him or not he was a very strong man yes he did lots of crimes BUT he was able to control a country with lots of different religious not only 2 btw there are more relgions there that u may not heard about, Making the or reaching a natioanl union is hard in these countries with lots of beliefs. I am not defending his crimes but who can tell me non of the leaders have mistakes?,I guess it is time for Mr bush to back off and save the troops for a real thing not a self benfit or self revenge war!, he is just trying to proove his point and it is just nonsense.
