A *HUGE* NSV for me!

Recommended Posts

OK... I have to tell you it's been a great day. Today was my first day back at the gym since my surgery. I've been walking but I haven't worked out like I should have been when I was cleared nearly 4 weeks ago. Anyway, I got there today...

So, I did 35 minutes on the elliptical not wanting to push it since it's my first time at the gym in 4 months. I felt great! I couldn't believe my heart rate wasn't skyrocketing like it used to. And during my cool down, my heart rate came down so much quicker than it used to. I also didn't look like a beet about to give birth

After my workout I went to the stretch station and went to grab my heel behind me so I could stretch my quad. WELL, I was able to grab my toe and didn't have to deal with all the silly maneuvering of grabbing my heel or ankle for the quad stretch like I used to do when my legs were bigger. I was so happy I wanted to cry but instead I just gave a huge smile to myself. :)

I love my band and I love ME!

Hey girls:

I had my LP on March 06'

I hate excercising.. but I found this JAZZERCISE class. You do Pilates, aerobics and weights at the same time. I love it. Hey just to think to go to the gym and on top of aerobics doing weights ...was too much for me.

What do you snck on?? Im hungry!!!!

Hey Maro,

Your class sounds like FUN! Rock on!

A great snack that lasts me for several hours is a half piece of whole wheat toast or a few slices of apple with fresh almond butter. If you have a Whole Foods near you they grind it up right there and there are no added sugars. It's a stick to your ribs kind of food! I'm not diabetic but I've been trying to stick to foods with a low glycemic index. I've found it really helps with the cravings for crap foods and it keeps my energy up too.

Sure, sometimes I take sliced turkey or ham and put some low fat cheese in it and roll it up like a cigar. It's low fat and high in Protein.

I also do yogurt and when I need to do carbs or get some crunch, I'll have a handful of Kashi Go Lean Crunch if I want sweet, or a handful of Goldfish if I want salty. sugar-free Jello is always in my fridge too :)

Yeah!!! I was thinking what do you girls do after really messing up???

(Lol ....shocks maybe I'm the only little piggy......

Oh, I'm sure we've all had our little piggy moments. I'm thrilled that the holidays are over so I can get away from constantly being surrounded by food - and good but bad for you food. I'm really happy with how I came through it... I weigh myself on Mondays and I had gained 1.5 pounds after my vacation. Grrr - I just ate super low carb and high Protein, drank lots of Water and I lost the weight in two days. AND, I got back on track and am not craving the crap that comes with eating the crap!

This band was a gift and I just remember that... it's ok to mess up once in a while - we're human. But recognize it and move on. There are size 10 jeans waiting for us! :)

I started at a 250lbs size 20, 40DDD bra /Now 170lbs size 13 jeans because 14 is too big and 12 are a NO WAY MISS Mcbutt!!!! lol.

Water, and high Protein diet for me...that always does the trick.

Anybody would think that because I'm in the medical field I should be a slender size 4....we all are heavy at the hospital!!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
