Sharon, I know it is nerve wracking and exciting all at the same time. You'll be fine, you are taking the first step to a new way of life. Enjoy every step, take time to enjoy each time you go down a size. Have a friend or spouse, someone, point out people at the mall that are your size....because YOU will NOT see yourself as others see you, not for a long time, maybe never! I'm three years out and I still don't see it. I know I'm smaller, but when someone says "tiny" or "skinny" I almost look behind me and then the fat girl inside giggles!!! You won't believe the changes a year from now. Go to the store NOW, or on your way to the hospital and have someone take your picture. Then every month on your surgery 'date', have someone take your picture. After your one year anniversary picture, take the disposable camera and have the film developed. There is nothing like laying all those pictures, side by side and seeing the transformation! It is one of the things I'm so glad I did. I read about someone else doing it, right here on this forum!!! Good luck to you.....in 24 hours, you'll be on the "Loser's Bench" with the rest of us!!! :)

Welcome!

NtvTxn speaks wisdom. The only thing I'd add to what she said is that the worst part of everything to me was the first four days of the two-week preop diet. Yes, it was worst than the surgery. But I'm so glad I did it because it made it so that I wasn't feeling like I was dying from starvation.

I was just saying earlier that I *LOVE* eating less than a girl and feeling full.

It's gonna be great!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
