I was sleeved on the 3rd & been home since the 7th, I have been drinking water...not as much as required but quiet a bit. My problem is that I am only using the bathroom once a day if that & its dark. Im not sure whats going on & my mom is VERY worried that I'm getting dehydrated. Has anyone else experienced this? PLEASE HELP!!!

If your urine is dark, you're dehydrated. As much as I know you don't want to hear it (I hate getting my Water in, too!)--up your Fluid intake :)

If this continues and you start to feel sluggish or dizzy or anything else out of the ordinary, go get some IV fluids. Sometimes its hard to get caught up on fluids.

Hathery is spot on. If it's dark, you are past the point of "maybe" on dehydration. My doc says if you are dehydrated, give up food for liquids. Drink drink drink. If I were you, I'd probably just call my doc and see if I could go in for IV fluids. No one wants to be in the hospital at all I know, especially after just coming home - however, you may be past the point of being able to rehydrate yourself by drinking. I know I couldn't have at that stage.

It may be difficult to get straight Water down at this stage. I was sleeved June 3 also and I've struggled with getting all of my Protein and Water in too. You might want to try a different kind of liquid (broth, Jello, popsicles, etc). I find that sugar-free popsicles go down easy...and you can eat a ton of them with minimal calories (and if your diet allows fudgesicles....you are also getting some Protein in them!) From what others have posted, you may need to add something to the water to make it slightly acidic so it goes down easier. There's lots of sugar-free flavorings at the grocery store that you can try (I prefer MIO in orange and lemonade.) Finally, if you don't mind a slick feeling for an "after taste", go to GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe (or online for either of these)...and get some Isopure ready made drinks. They are expensive ($4 a bottle), but they contain 40g of protein per 20 oz bottle but they count as water too!

PS...As a fellow June 3 sleever--I'm friending you. Keep in touch and let me know how things are progressing!

It sounds like everyone's in agreement. In the first few weeks, drinking is more important than eating, so drink, drink, drink!

Your body can live a looooooooong time without anything EXCEPT WATER! Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate is you first and foremost concern. Worry only about your Fluid intake at this point until your urine turns lighter. But don't wait too long. If you're having doubts contact your dr and insist you get IV fluids.

You need to sip sip sip and then sip some more. Gatorade is good to drink if you feel dehydrated or maybe baby pedilite. Please dont worry about the Protein, it will get there eventualy. Right now its about the Fluid you need. Always have a drink in your hand and sip sip sip and then sip some more.

Drink something other than Water like Gatorade or pedialite. You can also mix them half with Water to dilute them. Often, if you are dehydrated, just drinking water won't rehydrate you fast enough. You need electrolytes.

Some people need a little help getting their kidneys going again after anesthesia too.

Drink something with some electrolytes and like every one else says, see your doc!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
