I'm getting ready to get the surgery. Im dreading the lose skin part. Any insides on that. Insurance doesn't cover any type of plastic surgery. How does everybody deals with lose skin? Can it be prevented or minimize without plastic surgery? Or maybe there's an affordable way to get plastic surgery :-/

Well, you'll likely have at least some loose skin. The younger you are, and the shorter the time you've been very overweight, the more likely that the skin will eventually shrink back into shape. Things you can do to help: stay moisturized. Eat with good nutrition so your skin is well-fed. Get plenty of sleep. Get exercise, including some strength work. And be patient - it may take a year to 18 months to get the maximum shrinkage. As far as surgery, well, much like the VSG, you can also get plastic surgery done in many other countries, including Mexico, for far less than most places, and there are reputable plastic surgeons there, as well.

My surgeon said everyone will most likely have some lose skin. Also some insurances will cover some plastics. It's been know that they cover tummy tucks, breast lifts and thigh lifts but its hard. You need to document with your doctor if its causing problems like rashes and any kind of back pain or problems with daily activities but it depends how bad and your insurance. Otherwise Mexico is your best bet to get it done cheap. This is a worry for me because I have limited income and would take years to save up.

What worked for me is losing slowly...drinking lots of Water, and exercise. I hardly have any lose skin besides my tummy that was stretched out from having kids. Good luck :)

That's what worries me too. I am very "flabby" and have been overweight for 40 years. I am 56 years old. I know that I will look terrible. It is a scary thought!

Be sure to exercise as soon as you get the green light. As you lose you can tighten little by little. You will have some lose skin, but if you tone & tighten it may not look as bad. Drink your Protein Shakes. It will help build & tone as well.

I lost 150 pounds, did alot of exercising.

I look awesome in clothes, and yes, I have extra skin.

Exercise does not shrink skin but makes you more toned looking. How bad the excess is depends on many factors BUT the main thing is don't let this fear interfere.

Being thin/trim with extra skin is 1,000 times better then being obese.

When surgery, your surgeon checked on all dangers identified with your surgery or lose your skin part's . Your surgeon and the surgical group will keep you protected throughout your surgery and Consult Nose Right Direction Of use .In any case surgery is never danger free. The most widely recognized issues after surgery are pneumonia, draining, tainting, thickened blood (hematoma) at the surgery site, or a response to the anesthesia. I think Exercise and healthy foods is good for lose skin .

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
