Has anyone had Dr. Chandra Hassan in Ohio do their surgery?

Recommended Posts

I just got approved for my surgery this week. I am really nervous because the Dr. who was supposed to do the surgery has resigned and I was told the new Doctor, Dr. Chandra Hassan will be doing it. I know nothing about this doctor. Has anyone had their surgery done with him at Parma Hospital, Southwest Hospital or St. Vincent Charity in Cleveland? If so please give me your opinion about him.

Thank you so much, and have a fantastic day.

I had Doctor Meir...and have not yet been back for my 6 month appointment. Dr. Hassan has taken over this practice but I haven't heard anything about them either way. I also thought it was a woman :(

Has your patient advocate talked to you about this change? Given you references etc?

Thank you so much for responding. I am so disappointed Dr. Ben Meir isnt doing my surgery. I have an appointment to meet Dr. Hassan Friday. I have a lot of friends who had Dr. Ben Meir do their surgeries and loved him. This whole thing makes me nervous. I did call Parma Hospital and asked about switching and they said that would be fine but Dr. Craig will be deployed in July. I was hoping to find some feedback on Dr. Hassan. It looks like you are doing well with your loss. What is your opinion about St Vincent Charity Hospital?

Honestly I had no issues with the whole process and the staff at St. Vincents was wonderful. I will be following Dr. Meir wherever he goes but I haven't been able to find him. He told me that was an option when I saw him shortly before he left. Can you go to him where ever his new practice is? Is that an option?

I also was scheduled to have Dr. Ben Meir do my surgery but he left so suddenly. Dr. Hassan did my surgery June 5th and I was very pleased with him. I also have a friend scheduled later this summer and knew Dr. Hassan from Southwest hospital and had a very good referral for him. Good luck with your decision.

Dr. Ben-Meir did my surgery and he was incredible. The care I received at St. Vincent was exceptional--the dietitian I saw really knows her stuff and I credit her with my success as much as the surgery. The PAs are great and the nursing staff exceptional. I have not heard where Dr. Ben-Meir has landed but if your surgery is still a ways away, I think it's worth seeing if you can find out where he lands so that you can have him do your surgery. He follows evidence-based practice and really knows his stuff. He has done numerous clinically/technically challenging cases and has great outcomes.

I just insurance approval and am scheduled for pretesting on December 10th and RNY on December 27th with Dr. Chandra Hassan. I met with him in the beginning of this journey (August 2013) I am also interested in hearing from patients who have had Dr. Hassan as their surgeon.

Good luck to all!

I intially met with Dr. Ben-Meir, and was excited about him doing my surgery. After he left, I began meeting with Dr. Hassan...He's great. He did my VSG. No complications, no issues. Great guy, personable, smart, articulate and great with the tools. I only have one scar remaining and I'm only 4 weeks post op. Feel confidant that Dr. Hassan is the MAN! His staff also...they are great. No complaints...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
