February 2007 bandsters!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on 02/20; my first fill four weeks later on 03/20; my second fill is scheduled for 4/6. The first fill was 1cc and I don't feel any different. I am now down 30 pounds though and beginning to lose again on average 2 pounds per week. I didn't lose anything through the mushie and soft food stage. Now I pretty much eat anything except soft bread, popcorn or soda and have no problem. Oh yeah - I can't eat a wrap - too doughie.

Hi fellow Feb. Bandsters! I had my first fill yesterday!! He did 2.5 omnipack because I drive 2 hours to get to the surgery center. YEA!!!!! Yesterday I drank lots of Water and ate 1 and a half yogurt. Today I ate 4 ounces of tuna. AMAZING!!! Of course, I took my Flintstone Vitamins and my Calcium. YEA YEA YEA!! He said...now you are going to see the pounds drop.

Love my band!!!

I am still slightly swollen under the bra area where my port is AND I'm right on the verge of a visit from aunti flow and the only bra I can wear right now is my tie dyed cotton athletic bra and that for NO MORE than 8-9 hours.

Wow, I don't know.... I am apple shape, so all my weight is from hips to shoulders, I have tiny skinny skinny skinny legs.

The first place I lost weight was my B**bs, I love it! hmmmm

You were banded before me, so maybe you are gaining muscle mass, are you working out?

Do you usually retain Water in your bra area?

OMG! Could you be pregnant? Have you taken a pregnancy test?

Maybe... (this is my story) you shrunk your bras in the washer!! LOL.

Anybody else have this problem????

Synicalchick Tracy:

When are you going for your first fill?

April 2nd. Hopefully I won't gain back what I've lost until then...:phanvan

cosean...omnipack is different from the saline fills. It apparently is thicker and doesn't absorb like the saline does. Whatever it is....it's working. I really feel restriction. We went to a great seafood place today on the beach and I ordered grilled redfish. I ate 5 bites and was really tight. I stopped. FABULOUS!! OF course...flintstone Vitamins and Protein shakes...but I can hardly get a whole shake (atkins) down!!

AMAZING!!!

I'm glad to see that so many are doing so well.

Not so for me, yet. I am still hopeful in time my band will be working for me. I had my first fill 1.5cc on 3/16. No restriction at all. It is a bummer. I can eat everything and anything. Of course I have to take smaller bites and chew really well or I feel it. But I am not loosing weight. My next fill is not scheduled until may 17, I wonder if i should call my MD and see if I can go sooner. I have only lost 17pds since surgery and most of that was preop weight. I am not exercising. I am making the committement to start that TODAY!!

Keep up the good work everyone.

:) I think losing 17 is good. They tell you that weightloss can be slow with the band so don't be discouraged. I saw someone in the doctors office the other day who had only lost 35lbs in 8 months but she was still happy. Also I don't think you can expect to lose faster if you don't exercise. I think that is a must and the part that we have to do. the band cant do it alone, so get going today. I swim 3 times a week and need to be consistant with my walking.. also must do that today.. !! ask me later if I did, ha...

Melissa, what types of foods are you eating? And are you keeping a food journal or using www.fitday.com? Good for you that you're going to start exercising! That is SO important....

Well, today for example. I had cream of wheat for Breakfast, made one serving, couldnt finish it, but then two hours later my stomach was growling. I ignored it for a while and then had about 5oz of grilled chicken. Tonight we went out to dinner. No Soup, no salad, just my entree which was shrimp, scallops, ,tomatoes and aspargus. I ate half of what they gave me.

I really dont have restriction and that is what is frustrating.

I know we were banded the same day and I am going in for my thrid fill today. Call your Dr. and insist you get one sooner. My first fill was very small but when I went for my second it was discovered that the band absorbed more than half of it. Some girls in my support group have said it took then upwards of 8 fills to get proper restriction. I want to get another one because even though my portions are less they are not as small as they should be and I can still eat bread very easily.

I just joined this site and just wanted to stop in and say hi - I was banded on Feb 8th and so far have had no complications. My first fill will be on April 6th and I am really looking forward to it. I know from what everyone says there will probably be no restriction but i am happy to at least get this show on the road. I still feel like I can eat everything :hungry:

Well again Hi!!!

well , i screwed up , or pushed it to far. i made beef manhattan for my family and tried to eat a few bites of the beef & gravy w/ mashed potatoes. i had my 1st pb and it was kind of gross. i guess my stomach can't handle beef yet. my dr said not to try beef until 8 weeks, and i should've listened. after that i couldn't eat much for the rest of the day.

only one more week 'til my 1st fill tho'. i'm looking forward to that and hopefully gettiing back into losing mode.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
